ASEAN FEDERATION OF ENGINEERING
ORGANIZATION
The ASEAN Federation of Engineering
Organizations (AFEO) is a non-governmental body.
Its members are the engineering institutions and
organizations of ASEAN countries
-
Main Objectives AFEO?
To promote goodwill and mutual understanding
To establish and develop a ASEAN baseline
standard for the engineering profession with the
objective of facilitating the mobility of the
engineers within the ASEAN countries.
-
AFEOs Very Important Mission
To spearhead and to facilitate the mobility of
engineers within the ASEAN Free Trade Area, i.e.
AFTA with the formation of the ASEAN Engineers
Register i.e. the AER.
This is in line with the AFTA's AFAS - programming
for the liberalization of professional services within
ASEAN to prepare for globalization under the
World Trade Organization (WTO) initiative.
-
Objectives of AFAS
to enhance cooperation in services in order to improve the efficiency and competitiveness, diversify production capacity and supply and distribution of services of their service suppliers
to eliminate substantially restrictions to trade in services amongst Member States; and
to liberalize trade in services by expanding the depth and scope of liberalization beyond those undertaken by Member States under the GATS with the aim to realizing a free trade area in services.
