COURSE DESCRIPTION:

• This Course traces the development of selected Asian countries from early civilization to early 20th century.

• It concentrates on socio-political as well as the cultural development of Asia.

• The course closes with the discussion of the effects of socio-economic structure to the health practices of Asians countries

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Reflective Journal (10%)

Article Review (10%)

Written Report (10%)• Students who are assigned to discuss a particular

topic must submit a written report at least two days before his/her presentation. It will serve as a part of his/her grade requirement including the visual materials (i.e. write-on, transparencies, manila paper, or LCD projector if available) being utilize on the presentation.

Asian Civilization

• History is the study of the past, particularly the written record and oral traditions passed down from generation to generation verbally.

• Civilization is a society in which large numbers of people share a variety of common elements. • The word Civilization comes from the Latin

word civilis, the adjective form of civis, meaning a “citizen” or "townsman" governed by the law of his city.
