Dear Friends and Distinguished Guests:

On behalf of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), I am pleased to welcome you to the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey’s (APALA-NJ) 16th Annual Awards Gala & Installation of Officers. NAPABA is proud to work with the dedicated members of APALA-NJ, one of our 64 affiliated bar associations. We applaud APALA-NJ for its ongoing commitment to improving opportunities for Asian Pacific American lawyers in New Jersey.

NAPABA is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students. We represent the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and 64 state and local Asian Pacific American bar associations. Our members include solo practitioners, large firm lawyers, corporate counsel, legal service and non-profit attorneys, and lawyers serving at all levels of government. NAPABA continues to be a leader in addressing civil rights issues confronting Asian Pacific American communities. Through our national network of committees and affiliates, NAPABA provides a strong voice for increased diversity of the federal and state judiciaries, advocates for equal opportunity in the workplace, works to eliminate hate crimes and anti-immigrant sentiment, and promotes the professional development of people of color in the legal profession.

Warmest congratulations to outgoing APALA-NJ President Paul Yoon, as he celebrates the completion of a successful year and passes the baton to incoming APALA-NJ President Florelee Wan, from whom we anticipate another dynamic bar year.

On behalf of NAPABA, I extend our best wishes for a successful and inspirational dinner. I look forward to seeing many of you on November 7-10, 2013, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, MO, for NAPABA’s 25th Annual Convention.

Warm regards,

Wendy C. Shiba 2012-2013 President
