INTRODUCTION
Wah engineering college was establish in 2004 with the aim to establish centre of excellence for human
resource to meet the challenging global industrial requirement. Wah engineering college has been
striving for the betterment of education structure and is one of the most prestigious and rapidly growing
private institution. Being focused on this objective recently wah engineering college took another step
and that is establishment of ASME WEC CHAPTER with the support of Mr. Shahid Hussain Shahid, who is
faculty in-charge of Professional Society Mechanical at wah engineering college, and with the guidance
of ASME CHAPTER UET TAXILA. The combination of this support, guidance, and hard work by pioneer
students, the chapter was officially charted by the ASME in November 2013 and the ASME WEC
CHAPTER became official and started working; Mr. Waqas Javaid was first Student Section Advisor of the
Chapter.
THE CHARTER CERTIFICATE OF ASME WEC CHAPTER
ASME WEC CHAPTER is newly established, internationally recognized student section, active in
organizing as well as participating in events, both at national and international levels. The chapter
provides an opportunity to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities of the society members as well as
other students of the institute. The chapter has rapidly grown from being able to organize technological
and educational lectures to industrial tour and technical competitions.

SELECTION OF EXECUTIVE BODY (2013-2014) OF ASME WEC CHAPTER
The first executive body of ASME WEC CHAPTER was selected soon after the establishment of ASME
WEC Chapter; by following the selection criteria of WEC for office bearers. The candidates for executive
body was interviewed by sir S. H. Shahid and sir Waqas Javaid (SSA), Muhammad Adnan Safder being
appointed as first Chairman of the chapter along the following team.

The faculty supervisor is the core of any chapter; ASME WEC chapter was in the supervision of the most
experienced faculty member of mechanical engineering department MR.SHAHID HUSSAIN SHAHID.
MR.SHAHID is very active for the chapter and being keen to provide his experience of lifetime, thanks to
his tireless efforts to make the chapter successful, his support for the chapter is always overwhelming.

INTRODUCTORY LECTURE ON ASME WEC CHAPTER
Earlier on March 18, 2013; an introductory lecture was arranged in collaboration with ASME UET Taxila
to give introduction of ASME chapter, how they work, and their benefits. It was addressed by Mr.
Abdullah Naseer (Chair ASME CHAPTER UET TAXILA), and Mr. Faisal (Founder of ASME UET Chapter).
The response of WEC students was enthusiastic; over 150 students attended the lecture along some
senior faculty members.

PRO-E WORKSHOP
Pro-Engineer is modeling software, currently being used as a powerful designing tool in the industry and
research. The software helps the designer to elaborate his ideas in an improved way. ASME WEC
Chapter, realizing the importance of the software in the present economic and research scenario,
arranged coaching classes for Pro-E. The classes were held for 6 weeks with 18 contact hours, one class
per week on Friday and tasks were also assigned to the students regularly by the instructor Mr. Adeel
(Asst. Registrar UW). Later on certificates were awarded to the eligible students.

PRO E WORKSHOP

TECHNICAL SESSION WITH HONDA
ASME WEC Chapter organized a technical session in collaboration with Honda Centre Rawalpindi, on
Latest Trends in Automobiles. It was addressed by Mr. Mubeen (Shop Manager) and Mr. Ameen
(Technical Manager) the session was a great success. A large number of students and faculty members
from all departments attended the session and get them aware of what is happening in automobiles
world these days.

CV MAKING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT SESSION
Considering the fact that soon the senior students have to apply for jobs, the chapter arranged a CV
Making and Career Development session on March 18, 2014. Group Captain Masood Hassan
Rizvi (Director Marketing AWC, Consultant PAF) deliver the presentation and share his experience with
the students so that they are able to write professional CVs and develop their career in a better way.

DESIGN, BUILD & FLY COMPETITION
ASME WEC Chapter participated in DBFC, held at GIK Institute during 4-6th April 2012. Team WECAD
was comprised of five members of ME-6th. Team WECAD was awarded consolation prize in the closing
ceremony of the event.

TECHNICAL WEEK
First of its kind in WEC, ASME WEC chapter organized a technical week included many technical
competitions from April 30 to May 06, to boost technical skills of students and to provide challenging
and competitive environment to them. Mr. Manzar Masud and Mr. Muhammad Abdullah were the
judges from mechanical department. The name of competition and winners are given below
respectively.

PARTICIPATION IN SPDC
Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC) Asia Pacific is an event organized under American
Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), in which students from the entire pacific region participate in
international competitions and compete to win a spot in the ASME finals at International Mechanical
Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE).
This time regional SPDC of Asia Pacific held in UET Lahore, KSK campus from 8-10th May, in which not
only international students of seven Asian countries participated but also students from all over the
Pakistan participated in it. The winners of technical competitions represented WEC in SPDC in three
different competitions. Mr. Atif Iqbal (ME-8th) and Muhammad Anis (ME-6th) made us proud by winning
2nd and 3rd position respectively in CAD competition judged by Trojans (official representatives of Pro E
in Pakistan).

HOW TO CHOOSE RIGHT FINAL YEAR PROJECT & HOW TO WRITE A
RESEARCH PAPER
Keeping in view the requirement of selecting final year project for 6th semester students, ASME WEC
Chapter organized a lecture of Dr. Adnan Tariq, who is Eminent Educationist Researcher of WEC on
How to Choose Right Final Year Project and How to Write a Research Paper; dated May 20, 2014. Dr.
Adnan guide students well and answer their queries.

TECHNICAL VISIT TO KSB PUMPS
KSB pumps located in Hassan Abdal, is one of the leading producers of pumps, valves and related
systems all over the world. The technical visit was arranged by Professional Society Mechanical and
ASME WEC Chapter for their members on May 22, 2014. The students were then briefed about safety,
casting, machining and assembly of their products.

The CAD team of ASME WEC CHAPTER emerges victorious with two positions in CAD competition of
SPDC Asia Pacific, shields and cash prizes were awarded to them by Trojans. Later, on recommendation
of Mr. S. H. Shahid, Principal WEC approved an increase in their cash prizes.

Newsletter
Due to the hard work the chapter was recognized for their efforts in the university newsletter which is a
great success for a chapter being new. The chapter is working very hard and doing its best for the
welfare of the students there is still a lot to come.
