Message from the ChairGary Gehring

The ASQ Canada inaugral Conference was a great success. The speakers lived up to the high expectations, the meals were fantastic, the imagery of holding the banquet in the tank room was interesting. It gives us the impression that quality professionals are under the gun in Canada which is not far from the truth. We had 5 members attend and signed up one new member in Saskatchewan that was speaking at the event. For being a smaller section in Canada we certainly had a big presence. My thanks to all who attended to make this a good first event.

Back home, we are pleased to offer a four hour workshop on October 28th led by a Master Black Belt with loads of experience. This session is value priced and timely. We are also trying something new this time by holding it on a Saturday afternoon so members outside of Saskatoon are able to attend without work constraints. Already a member, stay for the free supper right after the workshop and top it off with our Annual General Meeting. Meet other members, meet our incoming executives and share some great conversation.

We are finishing this year with a major training initiative, a Lead Auditor course for ISO 9001. After hearing from a certification provider at the conference that most companies trying to meet the new standard requirements are struggling. This course can help you circumvent problems in aligning to the new requirements before it is too late. Meet otherprofessionals in Saskatchewan facing similar problems and together find the way to maintain this important certification.

I'm pleased with the new team of executives in Saskatchewan and wish to give them a big round of applause for the great work they are contributing. I look forward to meeting all of you at the workshop and AGM in a few weeks. See you there!
