  • DEFINITION:
    • A means of gaining access through a variety of mediums into a hostile stronghold through the use of explosives
  • GOAL:
    • Provide a rapid, positive and dynamic entry point
  • MISSON:
    • Recognize, analyze and supply tools that will provide an entry point

E.F.E.-Assaulters Briefing What is Explosive Forced Entry? 3. Standard Operating Procedures

  • General
    • Never leave the charge unattended
      • It is an explosive and needs to have complete security
    • Two T-PETs and two Charge Persons should be assigned to all E.F.E. applications
      • Operational and training scenarios
    • All charges should have two detonators
      • Except during training

  • Rain Check Procedures
    • Used if a problem exists with the charge
    • Charge Person is responsible for calling
    • Charge Person should give a brief explanation
    • All members should hold their position
    • If safety pin on initiator was removed replace
    • Once problem is corrected, charge person should advise
    • There will be exceptions to this rule i.e. operational requirements

  • Failed Entry Procedures
    • Upon experiencing a failed entry Element Leader should advise Tactical Commander
    • Members are to remain behind cover while Charge Person renders charge safe
    • Alternate entry procedures should then proceed
  • Multiple Charges
    • Each charge should be designated as to order of initiation
      • This should ensure that Tactical members are not compromised by entering on another charge being initiated

  • Cadence
    • Following procedure should apply from the holding area:
      • Tactical Commander-All Echo Units proceed to Phase Line Yellow
      • Echo White T.L.-Echo White is proceeding to Phase Line Yellow
      • Echo Red T.L. - Echo Red is proceeding to Phase Line Yellow

  • Cadence(contd)
    • All Echo Units then depart holding area for their respective Phase Line Yellows and complete their necessary tasks, then they advise the Tactical Commander:
      • Echo White T.L.- Echo White is at Phase Line Yellow
      • Echo Red T.L. - Echo Red is at Phase Line Yellow
      • Tactical Commander-All Echo Units are at Phase Line Yellow , All Echo Units proceed to Phase Line Greenwith compromise authority

    • All Echo Units then depart Phase Line Yellow and proceed to their respective Phase Line Greens and complete their necessary tasks, then they advise the Tactical Commander:
      • Echo White TL- Echo White is at Phase Line Green
      • Echo Red TL - Echo Red is at Phase Line Green

  • Cadence(contd)
    • Tactical Commander-All Echo Units are at Phase Line Green ,Tango Charlie has control
    • A short pause of approximately three seconds should allow for any last minute transmissions
    • The Tactical Commander may then proceed with the pre-determined entry initiation sequence

  • Recommendations
    • For the purpose of all E.F.Es the Sergeant/Team Leader is ultimately responsible for their entry element.They should work lead in conjunction with the Charge Persons, therefore they should be aware of all facets of the entry
      • Type and size of charge
      • Construction of the target
      • Alternate entry points and tools
    • All members involved will attend the safety briefing

  • Safety Briefing
    • Everyone involved in the entry will be present for the Safety Briefing
    • 1- If you are unsure of anything, at anytime, stop, ask for clarification and lets get it fixed
    • 2-All proper safety equipment must be worn and your communications must be working properly
    • 3-No smoking, flame, fire or heat is permitted near explosives

  • SAFETY BRIEFING(contd)
    • 4- Once you receive a charge from the T-PET, the charge is NEVER to be left unattended, Control over the charge must be maintained at ALL times.
    • 5-Restrict the number of persons in close proximity to the charge and keep the charge pointed in a safe direction at ALL times

  • SAFETY BRIEFING(contd)
    • 6-Check over your explosive entry charge, the detonators, and initiation device to confirm you have the appropriate charge with detonators and you are familiar with how the initiator operates
    • 7-Be aware of the location of all charges that are involved in the entry
    • 8-Keep the initiator pointed in a safe direction and your hands away from the front of the initiator

    • 9-Take your time to place the charge on the target, if for any reason the charge does not hold, implement the Rain Check Procedure
    • 10-Once your element is behind cover, the Charge Person will flip the safety lever, then the Sgt/TL radios that they are at PLG, when TC takes control, remove the safety pin

    • 11-Stay behind cover until your SEE / HEAR / FEELYOURcharge detonate
    • 12-If your Charge Person identifies a misfire, remain behind cover until the Charge Person has removed the non-el line from the initiator and identifies for you to proceed to your alternate entry procedures.
    • BE SAFE AT ALL TIMES
