• List the general properties of carbon, explain carbon cycle and the process of carbon dating

• 36 students divided into 6 groups of 6 each.

• Videos were shown and on the basis of the videos, a set of questions were given to them to answer – orally.

• In each group, one recorder/assessor would assess the answers given by the group members.

• The assessor is usually the one who is a G&T student.

• The group is a mixed ability group

• Based on the general formula of the three basic groups of hydro-carbons, the student had to guess the no. of carbon atoms and name the hydro-carbon and vice-versa

• STEP 1. FISH BONE DIAGRAM

• STEP 2. THE STUDENT HAD TO PUT DOWN 3 POINTS THAT WERE UNDERSTOOD WELL, 2 POINTS WHERE THEY NEED HELP AND 1 WHICH WAS NOT UNDERSTOOD AT ALL.

6.GROUP PRESENTATION

• Based on internet research and books, the students extended the syllabus by including “Carbon Dating” and through a group presentation.
