assessment of classroom technology
TRANSCRIPT
It deals with the theory and practice of
education.
PEDAGOGY
These are statements of what students will be expected to learn at
the end of the lesson.
LESSON OBJECTIVES
It is machinery and equipment developed from the application of
scientific knowledge.
TECHNOLOGY
General term for the various kinds of
programs used to operate computers and related devices.
SOFTWARE
It is a field involved in applying a complex,
integrated process to analyze and solve problems
in human learning.
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
General expectations of students outcome.
GOALS
It is a kind of teaching with technology integration.
HIGH-TECH TEACHING
At the end of the lesson, 100% of the students with 80% level of
proficiency shall be able to:1. explain the importance of
assessment in the teaching learning process;
2. identify and explain the factors that
contributes to the effectiveness of using technology in teaching.
ASSESSMENT OF CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY
When can we expect technology to be effective?
Accdg. to Deubel, 2001, As with any educational intervention, the
effectiveness of technology depends upon the appropriate
selection and implementation of that technology to meet teaching and learning goals.
Once selected, technology use must be a regular integral part
of an educational program and not viewed as an add- on in order to have a positive effect on achievement.
Accdg. to Punya Mishra and Matthew Koehler[2006], “ there is no single technological
solution that applies for every teacher, every course, or every
view of teaching.”
Further, technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge [TPCK] is the basis of good teaching with technology.
In order to make a technology selection to be effective, the teacher needs to consider those TPCK factors in relation to each other and should have acquired an understanding of the representation of concepts using technologies, pedagogical techniques and knowledge of how technology can help students in learning.
• “Education technology is neither inherently effective nor inherently ineffective; instead, its degree of effectiveness depends upon the congruence among the goals of instruction, characteristics of learners, design of software, educators training, and decision- making, among other factors. [Mark Schneiderman 2004]
Proper planning, teacher training, school leadership, technical support, configured hardware, network
infrastructure and internet access, pedagogy and instructional use, intensity of software use all play a role in an effective implementation. [SIIA,2009]
APPLICATION
Explain why teachers should conduct assessment of student learning?
EVALUATION As a future teacher, how can you ensure the
effectiveness of integrating technology in your class? Explain some factors you need to consider in an effective implementation. Use a graphic organizer for your presentation.
