What are the important components of character?CaringHonesty Respect

What is Character?Someone who possess moral strength and

integrity. They understand the difference between right and wrong and are committed to doing what is right.

Importance of characterCharacter promotes your well-being. When

you follow expectations, rules, and laws you stay out of trouble. Behaving responsibly means you are less likely to take dangerous risks that could hurt you or others. It promotes the well-being of society.

A mentor is someone who takes a special interest in you and invests time and energy in helping you grow and develop character

Universal ValuesValues most people have. They are universal to all

How we learn our valuesDirectly: From direct teaching or someone

say, and what you say to yourself.Focusing on positive messages helps us to

over come obstacles and strive to meet new challenges. It gives us the encouragement and will to try new things and do well in anything we work for.

Self-esteemThe value or importance you place on

Barriers to changeOne of the biggest barriers to change is

procrastination.

Needs and wantsWants: Things you desire but aren’t

necessary to surviveNeeds: Things you must have to survive

Short Term goalsGoals you plan to achieve in the next day,

week, month. They should be in only a short amount of time.

Long Term goalsGoals that you are wanting to achieve further

in the future 6 months, a year or more.

Fixed and Flexible goalsFixed: A set amount of time that a person has

no control overFlexible: No definite time limit
