The head of the country is the King or the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, a position which is changed every five years among the Malay Sultanates. The head of government is the Prime Minister. Malaysia’s key attractions lie in its extreme contrasts. Towering skyscrapers look down upon wooden houses built on stilts, and five-star hotels sit several metres away from ancient reefs. Cool hideaways are found in the highlands that roll down to warm, sandy beaches and rich, humid mangroves. The country experiences tropical weather year-round. INTRODUCTIONBachelor Degree in Civil, Mechanical or equivalent with a minimumCGPA of 3.00 from recognised institution of higher learning. Applicants with other qualifications can be considered if they havethe necessary experience and could demonstrate their capabilities topursue postgraduate studies.

English proficiency: TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS band 6 or MUET band 4. Exemption may be provided for candidates who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The programme consists of taught courses and one industrial based project. The students shall complete the programme in 3 semesters (12 months) by completing the 42 credit hours.

The course is structured into 11 one-week modules during which intense learning support is provided either at the University or at the students’ work locations.

The construction and installation of new assets, especially during theeconomic boom in the last three decades in supporting the country’s economy have been robust. The management and maintenance of these deteriorating assets are vital to ensure long lasting service livesof the assets.

At Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), the MSc in Asset Management and Maintenance programme addresses concerns ofaging assets and maintenance culture amongst the plant personnel.The target groups that need to be equipped with new knowledgeand competencies in asset management and maintenance includeengineers and managers from petrochemical plants, refineries, offshore platforms/pipelines, power sectors, public and private infrastructures and manufacturing organisations. This programmeaims at producing leaders who are able to manage and maintain assets in the most economical, professional, creative and reliableways with state-of-the-art technology, locally and globally.
