Function of a Music Video

Firstly the main function of a music video is to promote an artist or a band. It also is used to promote the album so it can get more popularity to a range of audiences so more money can be made.

From the creation of a music video, it can be used for the artist to sell to the artist to keep them pleased and wanting to be a fan towards that specific artist. If a artist or band does not create new music videos then the fans will not stay loyal by not buying new posters/albums or see them live.

If an artist or band was wanting to promote themselves they would need to create a music video that is mainly performance as it shows off their talent that the audience will want to see. However if an artist wanted to create a message they would have to create a music video which is based on a narrative to show the message.

Flume- Holdin On

This music video is used to promote the artist Flume.

It does this by using a wide range of shots from his live concerts.

Shows shots of his audiences emotion while seeing him live, thrilled and excited.

Shows his popularity as he travels to entertain his fans.

Makes the viewer of this video wanting to go see him live.

Shows his passion and importance to his fans.

Signing posters, making new songs and traveling.

Gives the audience a view of his life.
