Why Make Drama Films?

Drama films are sources of information and entertainment for the public.

They allow the audience to empathise with events by associating themselves with the characters, exploring psychological and emotional experiences.

The use of fictional and non-fictional characters makes it easier to tell stories, present news, to control behaviour, provide advice, and education.

My Genre And What Is About

• My chosen genre is “abuse”. Abuse used as film genre gets the audience to psychologically put themselves in the characters position or situation. It Involves a male or female character been sexually, emotionally or physically abused. The movie that inspired me was “precious” which talks about family and child abuse and has already been discussed in my previous examples of films that inspired my ideas.

Page 23: Assignment 8

THEME

My theme is about crime, melodrama or abuse.CRIME: This involves people exchanging things for weapons in order to persuade people to kill etc.MELODRAMA: When there is a man or woman struggling to protect or save his or her child from dying.ABUSE: Involves a male or female character been sexually, emotionally or physically harassed.

The two main ideas I have chosen is melodrama and abuse because these two are very important to be discussed in our everyday life.

IDEAS AND PLANS FOR BOTH OPENING SEQUENCE AND WHOLE MOVIE

WHOLE MOVIE

A girl goes out with friends and meets a guy who ends up to be her boyfriend and this guy takes advantage of the fact that she doesn’t have anyone who has her back. Her mum who is a single parent advised her to back out but she refused which led to her untimely death.

OPENING SEQUENCE

A flashback of her lying on the floor helplessly trying to remember who will try to kill her and then remembered that it was her boyfriend.

Page 25: Assignment 8

ENIGMA OF MY FILM

It will start with my first character enters the club with her friends then cuts of to the scene where she was lying on the bed with a guy and the final part where she was lying on the floor helplessly. There will be a question at the end asking ‘will she survive this trauma?’

Page 26: Assignment 8

MY CHARACTERS AND THEIR REPRESENTATION

• My main character represents the girl who falls in love with a guy she meets at the club and end up dating him.

• My second character is the mother of the my first character who tried her best to prevent her daughter from falling into the trap of the club guy.

• My last character is the guy who my first character falls in love with and then took full advantage of her until he successfully put poison in her drink to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy which led to her untimely death.
