Defining and Analyzing requirements for application development
Aim What I want participant to learn
To define and analyse the application development requirements
Rationale Why this is useful for them, and
how it will motivate them to
undertake the lesson
Requirements definition is one of the crucial steps of creating a project.
Without well-defined requirements managers cannot plan a project,
developers and integrators do not know what to build, customers do not
know what to expect, and there is no way to validate that the system
built satisfies the needs of the organization.
It is necessary for the IT project team and end users to define and
document all of the business and functional requirements of the project.
These are documented in the SRS the Software requirement
specifications. This document details all business and functional
requirements of the project. This brings the organization the developers
and users to a common platform as it details the "what" of the project.
Next, the team and users define the design requirements and add them
to the requirements document. The design requirements describe "how"
to build the solution(s).
Learning outcomes What I want them to be able
At the conclusion of this lesson students will, in both verbal and
written English, be able to:
to do at the end of the
lesson: ● Be realistic- Do not overload
● Use verbs for examples;
(Describe… explain…define...
analyze... carryout…reflect
upon…practice…identify…
makeconnection between…
justify… show… use…
plan…criticize…evaluate…
demonstrate…)

Conclusion of the lesson:
Outcomes How I will check that
participants have achieved
the expected outcomes.
I will check achievements of learning by:
Requirement listing and analysis of a project using case study of
SARTHI
Next lesson Instructions for participants
regarding presentation for
the next lesson
Setting up Development process environment
4.Assessment Events/ Tasks
Assessment of the trainees post the session on Defining and Analysing Requirements for Software
Development will be done using the following tools:
Formative
1. Case Study- Based on the case study of SARTHI or a successful change management in any MNC
will be used to identify the system requirements.
2. Assignment- The group will be given assignments for gathering system requirements, gap and
performance analysis.
Summative
3. Quiz- Divide yourselves into groups of 4, total group of 4. Questions will be based on the
selection analysis and identification process. Every correct answer will fetch 2 marks and wrong
answer will get 1 negative mark.
