• Assist students in acquiring a better range of professional skills and confidence before being placed in a real life classroom.

• Provide diverse professional experience options for students.

• Create awareness about virtual worlds as a pedagogical and social networking tool.

• Compare different methods of interaction to enhance student learning and teaching.

• Role-play in a virtual world as either:– Teacher (present a seven to ten (7-10) minute teaching

episode or idea on teaching – focusing on your preferred KLA)

– Primary School Student (please see the roles provided)

• Speak at all times in Chat or use audio as instructed• Teacher – please use audio features of Second Life

• Your lesson is not being judged• It does not matter if it doesn’t work• Please just immerse yourselves in your character• Please ignore spelling mistakes or bad grammar

Sloodle HUD – you will be given instructions as to which gesture you have to use in the role-plays

• Please raise your hand if you wish to ask a question using the Sloodle HUD.

• Please raise your hand in response to the teacher raising their hand (when they are attempting to get the class’s attention), using the Sloodle HUD.

• Remember to respect the avatar• Leave avatar as it was found – do not change

anything – do not take the avatar elsewhere• Keep the avatar in the classroom• Keep to protocols of a real classroom – watch

what you say

• Respect your classmates.• Please note the length of time you are off-task

(20% of the time only). That is approximately 1.25 minutes of the total time of the role-play.

• Give the teacher a fair go just as you would expect when it is your turn to be teacher.
