Assistance League of St. LouisANNUAL REPORT

2018 - 2019

FROM THE PRESIDENT

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honestcompliment, or the smallest act of caring – all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia

Dear Donors, Members and Friends of Assistance League of St. Louis,

2018-2019 proved to be a very successful year; many of the long time goals set by our organization were overwhelmingly accomplished. Our community service projects were covered by newspapers, magazines, and live interviews on radio and all four TV stations; our fund raising efforts exceeded the stretched goals that were put in place, and we designed and mailed out our first newsletter.

Your generosity and your belief in us have allowed our 518 volunteers, with no paid staff, to touch the lives of nearly 50,000 individuals in the community and to rack up nearly 80,000 volunteer hours doing so.

Our Platinum Transparency Rating from GuideStar, which we’ve received for the past few years, remains a constant source of our due diligence. We’re appreciative of being an awardee of such a privileged status; we know that only 1% of nonprofits earn such a rating. Additionally, our work was recognized by the St. Louis Ameren Thanksgiving Parade Committee, the Lions Rotary Club and the Old Newsboys Foundation, all with complimentary donations.

The membership works well together, and we are especially attentive to the evolving needs in our community. We’ve adopted a mission that pretty much defines who we are and what we do. We create our programs to empower the community, not to enable it – and we provide opportunity through our programs, not dependency on them.

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as president this year; it has been a blast. And the work, though somewhat challenging, has delivered results of which we can be proud. Thank you for being so supportive of our organization. I hope you will continue that support, and know that we make a difference because of you.

Sincerely,

Roxie RandolphPresident, 2018-2019

unbearable, hopeless situation seem anything but. Without people like you who care, we would have a world without hope.

From my heart, I greatly appreciate your generosity.

Sincerely, A.H.

Dear Assistance League, The gift bag that I received from you all today was so very special! After leaving everything I had in the world to come here, knowing that complete strangers care enough to give without knowing who is on the other end means the world! Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and time to put this together. Small gestures mean the world right now, just to know someone, somewhere cares.

Thank you, K.
