Letter from the Program Services Coordinator Hello Cañada A2B Students! My name is Timurhan Vengco, and I am the new Program Services Coordinator for the A2B Program! I'm here to introduce myself and tell you about how I can help you succeed here at Cañada College! I received my BA in English at the University of California, Riverside in 2011. After taking a year off from school, I wanted to open myself up to new experiences. I decided to move to the Bay Area for a completely different environment and culture, and I decided to continue my education at SF State. I am now a graduate student at SF State's English program. I'm currently working on my thesis focusing on the digital humanities and 21st century narratives. During my time at SF State, I also served as the associate director for the Campus Academic Resource Program, one of SF State’s major tutoring programs. As the A2B's Program Services Coordinator, I have the opportunity to meet and help each one of your with your academic and professional goals - particularly those of you who are majoring in Psychology, Human Services, Business, Nursing, or Early Childhood Education. This includes helping you monitor your transfer progress, providing information and assistance regarding admission requirements to University Center's degree programs, and directing you to other resources on campus.
Associate’s to Bachelor’s Program BLDG 9—214 Cañada College
I strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment with me so I can tell you about how the A2B program can help you with your goals! I really want all of our students to take full advantage of the A2B program's workshops, activities, and resources. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you! All the best, Timurhan

transferring to a four-year university. Luckily for you, the Learning Center has
opened its College Application Row for the months of October and November!
College Application Row is the perfect place to work on your applications on
campus. There are a row of computers in the Learning Center (2nd floor of BLDG

with your applications and answer any questions you may have. The College
Application Row is open Monday through Thursday (8 am—6 pm) and Friday (8

I am a Cañada College alumni that transferred to San Francisco State where I received by
B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Ethnic Studies. Since studying abroad through
the CSU International Program for an academic year, directly out of Cañada College and
then attending SFSU, I am now focusing on supporting agencies that promote leadership,
education, and economic development.
I am Julnar Msalam, one of the new Retention Specialists for the A2B Program. I started
my education journey at CSM. As a first-generation college student, I grew up in a family
that greatly values education and expected me to earn a college degree. I graduated with
an Associate’s in Science in Administration of Justice, and I’m transferring to San
Francisco State University next semester. I was undecided first about my major, but it was
a combination of faculty, professors, and staff who helped me to discover the path I wanted
to pursue. While I was taking classes there, I worked as a student assistant for four and a
half years in the Counseling, Transfer, and Career Department. I gained enough
experience that allows me to work at Cañada College’s A2B program. My goal is to help
students who are not familiar with the A2B Program know more about the services we offer.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
Transfer Success Tours According to College Board, a key part of deciding which college is
the best fit for you is to visit the college in person. Cañada College’s
TRIO Program began hosting Transfer Success Tours for Cañada’s
students. The tours give students the chance to visit various
universities in the Bay Area in order to learn more about the
campuses and their programs.
On Saturday, October 17th, CSU Easy Bay, located in Hayward, CA,
hosted their “Preview Day” for prospective transfer students. Cañada CSU East Bay
students had the opportunity to tour CSU Easy Bay’s beautiful campus and housing. Cañada students also met with
representatives to learn more about transferring to CSU East Bay, financial aid, and more. The campus also hosted an open
house where students can directly meet with East Bay’s four colleges and learn more about various majors they’re interested
in. Many of our students were surprised to learn how East Bay was a great fit for them!
Stay tuned for more information on future Transfer Success Tours!
The iCAN Transfer Campaign In order to help celebrate Transfer Month, the A2B Program created videos of Cañada College alumni that
successfully transferred into their desired four-year colleges. They were happy to offer insight, tips, and advice
