Monday: Abraham Lincoln’s birth and young life
A- Teaching about Abraham Lincoln’s birth and young life to 22, 5th grade students. The
students range from 10 to 11 years in age. The class is comprised of 13 girls, 9 boys, 2 ADHD
children, 7 African Americans, 5 Hispanics, and 8 Caucasians.
S- The 5th grade students will know when Abraham Lincoln was born and how he lived before
being elected president by the end of the day with 100% accuracy. They will be constantly
assessed on their knowledge of this information through the various materials listed below.
S- The materials they will use to ensure their success will be materials and visual such as a
poster, a Facebook page and a youtube video.
U- The video is actually going to be accessible on Friday before this week begins so that the
students are aware of what we will be discussing. They will be responsible for answering the
questions at the end of the video over the weekend so that I may assess them on whether or not
they actually paid attention to the information I gave them. The poster will be hanging up in the
class room where the students will be able to see it throughout the week. I will answer any
questions the students may have concerning the information. The Facebook page is for them to
look at after we have gone over the answers to the youtube video. They will read the information
given on the page and decide what they will need to use for their final assignment.
R- The students will interact with the video outside of class and with me in class as we go over
their answers together. The students will also have to participate in class and on the Facebook
page activities in order to grasp all of the information needed for their final project.
E- The 5th grade class will be assessed sporadically throughout the day based off of their class
participation and whether or not they showed up with their assignments. The final evaluation will
be given to them at the end of the week once they complete their final project.
