    GENERAL INDUSTRIES, INC. - COMPANY PROFILE General Industries, Inc. was founded by Robert L. Wiggins in 1954. We began with one manufacturing plant that served the North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia areas with heating oil tanks. In 1978, the founder's son, John (Tommy) Wiggins was named President following the death of his father. In over Fifty years, General Industries has grown to 45 employees, with annual sales of over $5,000,000. Our customers range from multi-national corporations to small businesses with liquid storage requirements. We are a licensed manufacturer of the Steel Tank Institute and a Petroleum Equipment Institute member. Our broad steel tank product line includes STIP3, STI-ACT 100, STI-ACT 100 U, Permatank, F911 Dike tanks, F921 Double wall tanks, Flameshield, Fireguard, Oil Water Separators, rectangular and cylindrical standard aboveground storage tanks ranging in size from 270 gallons to 50,000 gallons. We are labeled and listed for the following: UL-58, UL-142, UL-80, UL-2085, UL-1746 and we also build to API-650 and API-620 specifications. We fabricate with carbon steel (A-36, A-285, A-516, A-569) and stainless steel (304, 304L, 316, 316L). We also provide interior and exterior coating systems for industrial and commercially stored products. Our sandblasting and painting capabilities conform to the Steel Standard Painting Council specifications, as well as, military and federal specifications. We apply alkyd, acrylic, zinc, epoxy, enamel and polyurethane coatings. We also offer the option of baked coatings for special design requirements. Each tank manufactured by General Industries, Inc. must pass a multi-step quality control program. Tanks are tested at various stages during the manufacturing process to assure quality, with all results documented for future inspection.
