IN BRIEF DETAILS

Software development teams need tools to help them build mobile applications with strong security attributes. The DHS S&T Mobile Security Research and Development (R&D) Program has funded three performers to create advanced software development tools to improve app security. DHS S&T is hosting a webinar with presentations by the performers. Participants will share their own teams’ mobile app development use cases and learn about how their mobile app development teams can use these new tools to strengthen security.

Apcerto Inc. & Kony: Mobile App Security Orchestration Platform/Certification Tool This platform orchestrates mobile app development and app vetting. Apcerto’s solutions will normalize and rate mobile apps based on predefined standards and embedding security throughout their mobile app development platform. The platform provides a framework for automated workflow from app conception to development, to testing and distribution, and through continuous monitoring.

Progeny Systems & Microsoft Xamarin: Android Security Toolkit/Mobile Application Development Framework Progeny is using Microsoft’s Xamarin platform, security enhancements and mobile devops best practices to enable the federal government to build a secure mobile framework. Xamarin provides the capability to write cross-platform native mobile apps from a single code base. This capability makes the features provided by mobile operating system platform-specific APIs accessible within Xamarin development tools.

Kryptowire LLC & PnAutomation.: Assured Mobile Application Lifecycle using PnAutomation’s Mobile-UI-Center (MUIC) and Kryptowire LLC integrated code-scanning technology into the mobile app development lifecycle, develop new capabilities and enhance the MUIC Application Platform, while leveraging Kryptowire’s NIAP compliant mobile app information assurance software testing for iOS and Android. This solution will enforce an end-to-end security model in the mobile app lifecycle and reduce the cost of maintaining mobile security policies during app development and while apps are in use.
