Race Day Check-in Procedures

•Athletes Lounge• Uniform check (name, country, ITU logo,

zippers on back max 40 cm, other logos) – photos taken of each uniform.

• Uniform over both shoulders• Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ!• No temporary tattoos• No Bare skin between top and bottoms• Decals (both arms, both legs)

Race Day Check-in Procedures

Athletes Lounge• Timing Chip / Swim Cap

Remember:• Helmet (three numbers) / Bicycle (one number)• Uniform check for race and awards• Bike check: saddle, areobars, wheels• Leave your bags in lounge• one bike per athlete • bike warm-up before you enter lounge• run warm-up (EM) on bike course

Check-in procedures

Transition Area• Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition

The athlete who misses to comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

• Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike• All Spare wheels bring to athletes lounge before

the first race (need to be checked)• If you want to add any equipment to the bike this

needs to be approved by the TD at the end of the briefing

Pre-start Procedure

Athlete Introduction:• 10 minutes before start - line-up under ferry building

gantry• As introduced jog to the pontoon• No water bottles on the pontoon • Select your position at once and stay behind the

line!

Athlete blocking more than one place will result DSQ

Remember there are two lines: one to line up (behind the number) and one to start (in front of number at the leading edge of the pontoon)

Start Procedure

Athletes in position:• The start can be given any time after the TD

announces ”On your mark”• Air horn blast• The race starts

Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedures

False start Example 1: • Several horn blasts• Life guards in front of you• Everyone goes back to her/his spot

False start Example 2:• If someone starts before the horn and everyone

else starts with the horn, the athlete who false started will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

• Start continues as planned• During the time penalty athlete can not take any

equipment!

Rule The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike and TA2

e..x.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, discharge or store your equipment outside your designated area, rack the bike outside your own space etc

Penalty BoxRule interpretationMount after the mount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete foot

with the floor after the mount line. If this contact doesn’t occur the action is considered as mount the bike before the mount line.

Dismount before the dismount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete foot with the floor before the dismount line. If this contact doesn’t occur the action is considered as dismount the bike before the dismount line.

Discharge or store your equipment inside your designated area: Leaving the equipment (swim cap, googles, helmet, etc.) in the designated box.

Rack the bike inside your own space: In case of Traditional bike rack, the bike must be racked with both sides of the handlebar or the sea post with 0,5m to the name plate. In case of Individual bike rack, in T1 the rear wheel goes into the rack, in T2 the bike must be racked with the front wheel to the designated rack.

Post-race Procedures

• “Mixed Zone” - immediately after finish 1, 2, 3 with host broadcaster first.

Ambush Marketing Rules

Ambush marketing is defined as:

“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and

media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”

The consequence for this behavior is:

The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event

Medical• Only team medical officials area allowed in this area in

case there is an athlete from their team. Every NF can have 1 team medical upgade pass, but only for team doctors!

Coaches areas

Accreditation• Every coaches has to collect accreditation to be able to enter

the venue.• Only Coaches who have been registered from their NF into the

ITU online system are entitle for accreditation• Passes are given to NF according to the number of athletes

entered. 1-3 athletes = 2 pass, 4-6 athletes = 3 passes, 7-9 athletes = 4 passes, 10-12 athletes = 5 passes
