As Engineering Geologist, have been responsible for the supervision of the activities pertaining to earthworks
and slope stabilization carried out at site including earth reinforcement using TerraTrel walls for the
enhancement of stability, aesthetics and space around the parking terraces.
Remedial Measures at Dewal Landslide, Lower Dewal, Murree, Pakistan
Client: Communication and Works department (C&W), Govt. of Punjab
Government of the Punjab initiated the rehabilitation of the damaged section of Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir
(RMK) Road between RD 738 and 743 near Dewal. NESPAK carried out the design of remedial measures for
the Project. NESPAK-ECSP (JV) submitted the design of short-term remedial works for Dewal Landslide at
Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir road to the C&W Department. A flexible retention system, comprising gabions,
was proposed to support a 160m long temporary road in the landslide area. Subsurface French drains,
horizontal pipe drains and surface drains were provided to ensure the effective drainage of the area. Besides,
the area was instrumented to understand the gravity of the landslide issue. To study the probability of
involvement of bedrock in the landslide activities, an extensive geotechnical investigation and instrumentation
plan including boreholes, settlement markers, piezometers, inclinometers was carried out.
Working as Resident Engineer at the project, supervised all the relevant on going activities at site. Including
implementation of proposed remedial measures as per design in the light of international standards and
engineering parameters, progress and instrumentation monitoring reports, coordination with client etc. Other
activities include engineering geological mapping, rock slope assessment, rock mass survey, analysis of joint
data and joint shear strength evaluation during design phase.
Restoration of Landslide at Jhika Gali, Murree, Pakistan
Client: Communication and Works department (C&W), Govt. of Punjab
The design includes provision of reinforced earthfill embankment (TerraTrel). Besides, laterally loaded piled
walls were constructed at two different locations to arrest the phenomenon of retrogression and to give long-
term stability to the area. In addition, adequate surface and subsurface drainage measures were also provided in
the design.
As Assistant Resident Engineer, supervised the remedial measures undertaken, including Terratrel earth
reinforcement, piling and pile load test, construction of retaining walls, Road works, Installation and
monitoring of instruments including inclinometers and surface settlement markers etc. engineering geological
mapping, rock slope assessment, rock mass survey, analysis of joint data and joint shear strength evaluation
during design phase.
