Key Findings:
Children taking extended leave has had a huge impact on attendance for those children who have a Statement/EHCP
1 child has taken 2 holidays during term time which in total was 3 weeks
1 child has taken 2 weeks holiday during term time and also had several medical appointments due to an operation, having cochlear
implants
Taking both their attendance off the figure would have an impact and increase the percentage to 96.11%

Attendance Clinic for children with 93.5% attendance or less
An attendance clinic will be held in May 2017. Parents will be invited to discuss their child’s attendance, help, advise and support
will be given and the opportunity to speak to the school nurse will also be available on this date.

Home visits has made an impact – Attendance officer is not visiting families as often as previously, this has built up
relationships with parents and have gained trust with their children being in school if feeling unwell
Attendance clinic has impacted on those children who had low percentage attendance last academic year
Children strive to receive 100% attendance badge at the end of every term – Children will often talk about this and will
sometimes tell parents they want to be in school if they are feeling unwell as they want to receive the reward of the 100%
attendance badge 31 pupils have 100% attendance this term
NEXT STEPS AND ACTIONS
Introduce a watch list for every class of children who had less than 95% attendance last year
EHCP/Statement attendance is very low due to extended leave – closely monitor these children on return
Persistent Absence – Increase parental engagement and closely monitor these children on a weekly basis to
ensure they are in school
Continue to closely monitor the attendance of groups SEN support/C4C/EHCP/FSM – by introducing a
vulnerability watch list – SEN/C4C and EHCP/Statement.
Home visits to children in Nursery on first day of absence
Continue to visit parents/carers on the first day of their child’s absence when we have had no contact about
the reasons for absence.
To continue to produce an attendance report every half term for Mrs Isberg for clarification of our current
attendance figures. Ensure the report shows impact of actions and highlights concerns.
Arrange the end of term treats for classes with 98%+
To ensure that children are rewarded for their efforts when they achieve 100% attendance (badge and

certificate)
To invite parents in to our Attendance clinic if their child’s/children’s attendance dips below 94% and to ensure
pre-warning letters are sent out. These will be held every half term.
