ART CURATINGDo you want to be a curator? What kinds of reflections does it take to perform as a cultural producer in between the spaces of marketing, democratic public, aesthetic experience and human interchange? How and why does practice relate to theoreti-cal inquiry?

The summer course in Art Curating deals with what has transformed into a vital area of cultural production: curating. In the course we will engage with curating as a mode of action that is at once creative and reflexive. The course combines a critical, explorative, theoretical and collaborative approach. It mixes workshops, projects, se-minars, lectures and out of campus events at partner institutions in Aarhus and Co-penhagen.

Informed by recent developments in con-temporary art practice and contemporary culture, the course provides a shared space for the exchange of ideas and critical re-flection on the role of curating in contem-porary culture, further distinguished by a

focus on the influence of technology.The course is facilitated by Jette Gejl, Jacob Lund, Geoff Cox, Signe Meisner Christensen, Aarhus University, and involves the participation of Kunsthal Aarhus, ARoS, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Nikolaj Kunsthal, and Overgaden – Institute of Contemporary Art.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

• Engage with institutions of contempo-rary art in a professional way

• Take on curating projects in the field of art and culture

• Understand the dynamics of the cura-torial as a space for acting and gener-ating ideas

• Discuss the relation between practice and theory in curating

The summer school courses are part of AU Summer University and welcome Danish and international full time students, exchange students and free movers.
