LegendThis streetscape design looks to significantly improve the streets amenity, connectivity and accessibility within Auburn Village.

• Building on the heritage character with new signage and use of consistent materials, furniture and planting palettes

• Enhance greenery and improve street amenity with new median strip, street trees and understorey planting (subject to VicRoads approval)

• Improve pedestrian accessibility and connectivity with raised pedestrian crossing on local side streets

• More opportunities to provide longer and informal stays with enhanced outdoor eating at widened footpaths

Auburn Village has a charismatic and local energy with its rich history reflected in the shops’ late Victorian architecture. The shopping strip of primarily small businesses is a popular place to shop, spend time with friends and family and a vital part of the neighbourhood’s character.

Heritage furniture, red brick structures, bluestone walls and the railway steel overpass contribute to the heritage character and create a unique tactile texture at the street level. However, elements of the streetscape have become tired and dated and lack small public spaces.

• Improve the entrance to Auburn Station with a refurbished seating area and new paving

Note: Implementation of proposed works will be subject to further detailed design and funding availability. All proposed works on private property, VicRoads and VicTrack land are subject to further approval.
