Auburn is a city o approximately 50,000 located in

the rolling hills o east Alabama. Its climate provides

Auburn oers a variety o options or students

seeking to improve their English skills in a welcoming,

academic environment. Services include:

Intensive English ProgramAuburn’s Intensive English Program is open to people 17

years o age or older who have completed high school

and have already attained a basic knowledge o English.

On their rst day, students are tested in listening,

speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary

skills to determine their level o prociency.

Courses are ofered at ve levels o prociency, ranging

rom beginning through advanced. Students learnthrough authentic language tasks such as interviews,

projects, and reports. Students have the opportunity

to practice language in local settings by participating

in extracurricular activities and meeting with American

conversation partners.

Classes are held throughout the year in eight-week 

terms. Each level o the curriculum includes two terms,

although some students may be able to complete a

level in a shorter amount o time.

Global Bridge ProgramAuburn ofers international students an option to jump-

start their college careers in the summer and waive the

ACT and SAT requirement through the Global Bridge

Program. In this program, recent high school graduates

can complete 15 credits toward an undergraduate

degree during Auburn’s summer semester. Nine credits

will be or advanced English skills and six credits will beor classes o the student’s choosing.

Students who successully complete summer classes

will take an additional 12 to 15 credit hours toward

a degree in the all. Students who maintain at least

a 2.5 grade-point average through the summer and

all will be admitted as ull-time students or the

spring semester with the university’s ACT/SAT score

requirement waived.
