Audience Considerations and Research Audience Engagement: I want to create a emotional suture the audience into the story by creating characters and situations that generate sympathy, jeopardy, and reliability. Audiences are drawn to characters who are "attractive" — characters that are funny, powerful, skilled, beautiful, charming, and hospitable. When I create characters with such attributes, our audience wants to be close to and identify with them. It is a purely emotional reaction based on the character's outward appearance and behaviour. Audience Expectations: Genre is dependent on audience for both their existences and meaning. My genre (psychological thriller) will encourage certain expectations on the part of the audience. My audience will watch the film opening with certain gratifications. The audience will have one of three responses to the text: 1. Preferred response 2. Negotiated response 3. Oppositional response Audience Identification: This is the way in which an audience feels themselves connected to a particular media text, in that they feel it directly expresses their attitude or lifestyle. I want my film opening to be something realistic and that the audience can believe. The different shots the location and the character showing expression through her body and face will make the audience feel connected to a particular text, in that they feel it directly expresses their attitude or lifestyle. This is why I feel my film opening will be successful in uniting the audience feelings with the characters. Audience Research: I will be completing my audience research by doing a simple questionnaire which could possible improve my film. I could adjust my idea by making it different, interesting and engaging as possible.

Audience Considerations and Research

Audience Engagement: I want to create a emotional suture the audience into the story by creating characters and situations that generate sympathy, jeopardy, and reliability.

Oppositional response

Audience Identification: This is the way in which an audience feels themselves connected to a particular media text, in that they feel it directly expresses their attitude or lifestyle.
