Audience Feedback

What have you learned from your audience

feedback ?

Why do we need audience feedback?

At the very beginning of our media task we were asked to look at different artists and how they create music videos and their CD covers. However we felt this wasn’t enough and decided that the most important way to gain feedback was by asking an audience.

Based on the genre ‘pop/rock’ we decided to create a focus group which would extend my groups knowledge of what others are after in a music video.

Just by asking different people questions we were able to then gain an understanding of what others would like to see in a music videos and what genre of music they preferred.

When creating our music video we attempted to connect this with audience feedback. By setting a group up on facebook by the name ‘Anthem Beatz Records’ we were able to gain a variation of feedback.

By asking peoples opinions on our work we could see where improvements were needed and how people felt about the work we produced as a group.

Audience Feedback- why do we need it?

The main reason we need audience feedback is to allow interaction between the audience and my group and allowing them to state their opinions.

Using Facebook to gain feedbackWe decided as a group to set up a Facebook group to gain feedback from the work me and my group produce. To make the group our own we personalized it by inserting our logo as the cover page and added images of the group and posts of what the group have achieved.

After my group had finished the music video we decided to upload this to our facebook group, where friends of the group were able to ‘like’ the music video and to comment on what they felt could be improved as well as positive and constructive feedback.

This also allows members of the group to comment on our wall and display their thoughts of ‘Anthem Beatz Records’ and the work they have produced.

As a group we believe that audience feedback is very important. This is because without an audience we wouldn’t be able to improve on current projects.

Using facebook feedback is an easier way to gain information. As most of the younger generation have facebook we felt that our friends would be able

Facebook also allows groups to create posts and ask questions which shows that getting feedback is much quicker and effective than having to ask everyone individually.

Using Facebook to gain feedback

This is an example of some constructive feedback. This individual has shown that we could of worked out our time management as they claim it was ‘time consuming’. This individual has also looked at the use of the shot types and how my group have aimed to fit them all together.

On the night of uploading our music video we decided to put it on Facebook, where straight away everyone was able to see it in their news feeds. The result of this meant we had a lot of feedback in the first night and others started viewing our video from different countries.

To create more understanding of what others felt about our music video, we used the Facebook group ‘Anthem Beatz Records’ to our advantage by creating polls for people to answer.

Just by selecting an answer will give my group an indication to how people feel about our music video.

I have allowed this option at the end. This allows people to add their own comment if they feel the answers do not match what they feel and what they want to say about our music video.

Audience Feedback- Creating Polls to gain feedback

Using audience feedback for any project allows is to see what could be improved next time round and to make projects which different audiences would like to see.

The social networking site YouTube is used by millions of users everyday. Therefore my group decided that to gain even more feedback we would use YouTube, which allowed us to upload and view our finished music video. From this we could see how many people were watching it indicated by ‘hits’ and people even had the chance to like and dislike the video.

The audience feedback gained form YouTube didn’t allow us to improve on our music video as we were given positive comments and some people even understood how we were trying to represent one of the actors- this tells my group that this representation came across clearly.

Using Twitter for feedback

I don’t have a twitter account, however both of my other member of the group do. Therefore when we uploaded our music video to Facebook and YouTube, my group members decided to ‘tweet’ our music video.

Using Youtube for feedback

Page 8: Audience feedback

People felt that our video was a good representation of young teenagers in a relationship.

Our audience praised our filming, acting and editing.

Some felt we could have more variation of performance shots.

Our audience seemed to like the narrative and could understand it easily .

They thought that the music video was emotional which is what we set out to achieve.

Overall Feedback

The audience who watched our music video claimed they liked It and thought it was ‘very good’. Our audience

believed that the music video we had created met the pop/rock genre and they felt the story line matched the song lyrics.

If we were to do another music video we would make sure that we included more variety of performance types to match the audience feedback.

Our audience believed that our acting., filming and editing was achieved successfully.

This is a very important point that the audience were able to follow the storyline all the way through the music video. This tells my group that the narrative is fluent.

What have we learnt from our

audience feedback?

This tells us that we created a representation of the character which the audience could understand.

The audience enjoyed watching the music video me and my group have created.

This point tells my group that we have included conventions which meet the pop/rock genre, and what our audiences feels this type of music video should be like.

Our audience believe that our video is full of emotion and sadness. This is something which my group really wanted to portray in our music video.
