Audience FeedbackBY OLIVER TIERNAN
Audience Feedback
Audience feedback is important to use when creating a piece of film. We had to try and talk to our target demographic and get their perspective of what we created. It not only gives us a fresh set of eyes to look at it but also helps us tailor our product even further towards our target audience.
How We got Audience Feedback
To gain audience feedback we had to find a way of gaining our audiences perspective that was well organised and created valuable data. I felt this was done best by using Survey Monkey. This allowed me to send out my survey with relative ease and to a certain group of people.
What was in my survey
Unlike most surveys having closed ended questions mine were relatively open ended. I asked my audience 4 Questions:
1. How would you describe yourself as a person.
2. What experience do you have with television (in particular soap operas).
3. What did you like about our product?
4. What constructive criticism would you give us and how could we improve our whole product?
Who I asked?
Luke 15 year old Student.
Chloe 18 Year Old Student
Holly 22 Year Old Netball Player
Nick 28 Year Old Tattoo Artist
Fab 31 Year Old Retail Worker
Darren 37 Year Old Tailor.
What I gained from Feedback?
Luke wanted there to be more action within the trailer to appeal to a male audience as well as a young audience.
Chloe: Wanted there to be less football and more action and drama again to appeal to the secondary female audience.
Holly: Wanted the Bedroom Scene to Be Less explicit and more implicit to appeal to wider female audience as well as young audience.
Nick: We needed more male orientated subjects in the product to make it appeal to that male audience.
Fab: Wanted the pace of the film to pick up, slow pace didn’t attract any of the male audience and all wanted a more fast paced programme.
Darren wanted there to be more characters the slightly older end of our demographic could relate to. Ideally a main Character.
Print Work Feedback
I struggled to gain any audience feedback for my print work but asked my nan who reads a lot of the soap TV magazines. She was impressed by my cover for the magazine but had one key critique. She felt the content of the front page needed to give more of a shock factor but at the same time leave something to the audiences imagination.
