AUDITION INFORMATION
Any student that would like to be a part of the Chamber/Show Choirs during the 2015-16 school year must go through an audition process. The expectations are detailed below: Chamber/Concert Choir:
• Expectations o Ability to match pitch o An open-mind to sing music in many genres and languages o Participate in all format concerts, State Choral Performance Assessment, sporting events,
fundraisers, and Dessert Cabaret • Fees
o $150 - Choral Participation Fee (amortized) § Pays for an Assistant Director for the Choral Department
o $50-80 - Concert Uniform § One time fee. Uniforms are reused each year.
o $50 - Oak Mountain Choral Booster Dues o TBD - Annual Choir Trip (optional)
Chamber/Show Choirs: OM Singers & “The Muses”
• Expectations o Ability to match pitch o Sing while dancing o Participate in all format concerts, State Choral Performance Assessment, sporting events,
fundraisers, etc. o Students will be judged on poise, performance ability, singing, and dancing during their
audition. • Fees
o $1,200 - Participation Fee (amortized) § Pays for music, costumes, and Assistant Director for the Choral Department
o $50 - 100 - Concert Uniform § One time fee. Uniforms are reused each year.
o $50 - Oak Mountain Choral Booster Dues o TBD - Annual Choir Trip (optional)
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Chamber/Concert Choir: • Sign-Up for audition time for Thursday, May 14 on Tuesday, May 12 in the choir room at OMHS • Sing a solo of your choice • Must provide your own accompaniment
o Can be on iPod, CD, or phone o NO A CAPELLA SINGING or ORIGNAL SONGS
Chamber/Show Choirs:
• Come to OMHS on Tuesday, May 12 at 3:30pm to Dance Clinic. The choreography you will be expected to perform at your audition will be taught between 3:30pm – 6:00pm. You will sign up for your official Thursday audition time during Dance Clinic. • Each person will be required to sing a solo in front of a panel of judges. Once the student has sung their solo they will perform the audition dance in a small group. • Students must provide your own accompaniment
o Can be on iPod, CD, or phone o NO A CAPELLA SINGING or ORIGINAL SONGS
Note: If you are currently enrolled in a chamber choir and have a credit in your account it in no way assures you a spot in a choir for the 2015-16 school year. If you make chamber choir we will roll your credit over for the 2015-16 year. If you are not placed in a chamber choir we will reimburse any credits or discuss additional options.
