She enjoys art classesin school but also teachesherself by watchingYouTube tutorials andvideos on art technique.And she is not afraid toexperiment, often startingwith a sketch that becomesmore complex as she bringsin her colored pencils,markers, or paints. Ms. Parks hummingbirdartwork started as a sketch.Using a lightboard, Stefanyfilled in the details withCopic brand markers, whichcome in a variety of colors,styles, and nib shapes. Thefinished hummingbirdsports green wings that looklike leaves, bright yellowsunflowers on its breast, aruby throat of daisies, andcalla lilies for its tail feath-ers. Last year, Stefanys artteacher at Callaway HighSchool was Clint Robinson,who also sponsors theFestivals Student ArtExhibit. At Callaway,Stefany studied photogra-phy and took an AdvancedPlacement class on two-dimensional art. She alsoenjoys creating art digitallyusing SAI PaintTool soft-ware, and she plans to go tocollege, possibly to studyPixar animation. She hasapplied to an art instructionschool, where she plans toearn college credit whilestill in high school. Stefanyhas lived in LaGrange forseven years, and in additionto art she enjoys swimming,cross country running andother sports. Hiswhiskers were too short tobe called a beard and hisnose was so varicose itlooked like a road map. Wewere too far from him tosmell, but I was sure hesmelled.
