SUPERSTARS

SUPERSTARS

Dear Scintillating Superstars,

“You’re the Key!” The 2009 winners

of this 5th Hunt for Pink September are the

key! The Hunters posed on white flagstone

steps, holding their pink “key” flanked by

our two guests, NSD Glinda McGuire and

two time Million Dollar director Kristin

Myers. They were treated to a spectacular

sunny day and a Cash

Cab experience. When

Glinda and I pulled up to

a pink Cadillac whose

riders had been dumped

out alongside the road,

we were asked what it

would cost for a ride to

my house. $5000 was

the price. Clutching

their HUNT BUCKS in

their hands, they said,

“We’ll walk!” and off

they went in their high

heels. I’m still chuckling

at the picture. I know

they were very pleased

they saved their bucks

when they realized they

could “BUY” lunch with

our guests.

Once again, the day started with

laughter and camaraderie as consultants

from different units got to know each other.

What happened next is a tribute to our

guests who gave us a paradigm shift in our

thinking about having parties on purpose

because “Parties with a Purpose” can make

a significant difference in how this year plays

out. It’s tweaking words, it’s learning new

skills at the close, it’s being more confident

in booking Career Talks as well as Parties.

It’s going to take 10 Parties and 20

Career Talks a month. You’re only 16

parties away from DIQ…right?

It’s going to take intentional

activity. It’s going to take passionate

commitment. It’s going to take

unquenchable belief. I know that if you

were there, you looked at the difference

between a consultant

check and a director

check, and some of

you were amazed.

You wrote down how

to calculate a

director’s income,

and you were

enlightened. Some

of you went home

and picked up the

phone and said I’m

calling till I book 10

parties for

September. And

some of you are

hoping you’re going

to find a “chicken

lady” at one of those

parties who will lead

you to a director.

Whatever your role, whatever

your passion, whatever your level of

commitment, you are needed and

appreciated. And did I ever mention

that I love events? Did I ever share that

I believe events move people forward?

Did I ever suggest that when I announce

the next challenge, you do whatever it

takes to be there?

September’s Growth Groups will

get you primed for October’s challenge

for Mon Ami Gabi. Prepare yourself!

THIS MONTH’S ISSUE OF:

IF SHE CAN, I CAN! Each month I will feature a different Future Martin Area Director in our newsletter.

Director Name: Meg Arneson

Former Occupation: Still Own and Operate my own Preschool

City/State: Sheridan, IL

Joined Mary Kay: December 1995

Debuted as a Director: July 1, 2009

# of months driving free: 4 months

Highest commission check in one month: $1900

What was the sequence of events that brought you into the company (recruiting layering

process)? I joined MK to get my product at cost. Everyone in my family was using the product and it made sense for someone to join so that we would save some money. To my surprise MK got into my heart and the rest is history.

Why did you join? I was looking for something for me. I knew that I would be good at this and that it was a great way to meet new people.

Why did you want to be a director? ? I wanted to share my skills with others. I know that I have a lot to offer and teach other women. I wanted to be like all of the directors that I was around and I wanted to receive their pay.

Has there been a dark season in your Mary Kay career? If so, how did you come through it?

Oh yes. I was a director in 2000. I chose to step down because of my lack of leadership and drive. It was very difficult to be a consultant when I knew that I had trained many of the new directors that had moved up. My belief in the product and the company kept me involved. I had always promised Jeanie I’d come back to help finish her National Area and I kept my word.

Page 11

What is the one thing that was difficult for you or you were afraid of in this business? I was afraid that I would fail again at being a good leader. I was also afraid that I would not be accepted by all of the other directors. I worried what they’d think of me. I didn’t need to feel that way.

During what time period did you have the greatest growth of income and what was the

growth? My greatest growth was during DIQ. I saw myself changing in how I ran my business and that was changing the way my consultants worked in their busi-nesses. My check went from $600 to over $800. Now that I am a director I know that will grow to almost $2000. How fun is that.

What do you attribute the growth? I attribute my consistency in doing faces and my drive to talk to everyone about this amazing opportunity. I also know that my extra office help and support at home had a great deal to do with it also.

What advice would you give a consultant that wants to be a Director? Be true to yourself. DO not compare yourself to others and consistently do faces and interviews. Always ask your director for advice. She has been in your shoes and can help you the best.

My Dream Corner…

I’m dreaming of how it will feel Friday night at Retreat

when we go to the stage for our Future Martin Area

picture. I’m dreaming that we are going to get a gasp

and a WOW from the audience as they realize how many

black sweatshirts are in the room. Don’t forget to wear

black pants and the black sweatshirt with the heels on

wheels!
