...Another busy month gone by!
I am very jealous of the interesting car shows everyone got to attend this summer all over the country.
Hopefully we get some reports and pics.
Do we have "new antique auto" owners who have joined our group? If so, it would be cool to have you
named and pictured in our newsletter. Also, I am aware that some of our members received special awards
this summer. Our membership would appreciate to see a photo of you and your car in our next newsletter.
By the way, I am still in need of interesting subjects and speakers for upcoming meetings.
Our welcome back event is scheduled for November 18,2017, courtesy of Jeff and Denise Day at their well-
manicured horse ranch. More to come, but mark this date on your calendar. This will be a fun event.
Well folks, I am headed to my next big event---The 55-57 Chevy National Show in Bowling Green Kentucky!!
Hope to see you at the August Dinner get-together or at my house for the last ice cream social on
Tuesday, August 29th.
Happy Motoring,
Paul
Anyone Interested?
A friend of Peter Blackford's in Bonita Springs just found one of these, and wonders if anyone in our
club would be interested. It's a tool designed to remove inside door handles from older cars.
He found one advertised on eBay but this one is complete, and he thought it might be
possible that one or more of our friends in the car club who work on old cars might be
interested in making an offer. Contact Peter for details.
It is identified as D.H. 7 (door handle) MFR. Ullman Corp., Brooklyn, NY. The information found in
eBay says it's an old Snap On Blue Point tool, collectors item. He found something on the tool at this
address: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-blue-point-snap-dh7-door-292423926
George Nosky: How They Traced the YENKO 1957 Race Car Back To Me
George Nosky sent this email to some of our members, and asked that it be shared with all. George's words follow:
“I found out through one of our NCRS [National Corvette Registry], Michigan Chapter, members (thanks Harry Jones) that there are a couple articles in the Solid Axle Magazine about my old Yenko
race car. The magazine covers the 1953 through the 1962 Corvettes, those with the solid rear axle. The attachments contain the articles.” [See references, below.]
“I received e-mails in Florida from the current owner, Frank Ott, asking if we once owned the 1957 Yenko race car. I never tried to find the car since I didn't have the VIN number or the person's name
we sold it to in 1966. They found that the car was once in Western Pennsylvania and they had my race number from the underside of the trunk lid. They contacted the Corvette Club of Pennsylvania and an old friend recognized the number as mine. They put my name on the Corvette Forum and a
friend from the local NCRS Chapter (thanks Tom Dingman) saw it and e-mailed me in Florida. The present owner has invited us to his home in New Jersey to see the car. We will probably do this on our way to the beach at Nags Head in August. I have the original Bill of Sale from Don Yenko which
I will give to Frank Ott. He is going to restore the car to its racing days condition. “Some of the early ownership facts aren't right. I bought the car from Don Yenko, sold it in 1966 to
Harold Cooley who took it to Arlington VA where he apparently sold it. NO I am not in my mid 80's. “I gave them a copy of the picture you see in the second article.“The car has been invited to the Pittsburgh Vintage GP along with other Yenko cars. Neither the
current owner, nor I, can make it.”
Thank you, George, for sharing your experience. The article you refer to is: Gessner, Jim, “Can You
Help Identify this East Coast Race Car?” On Solid Ground, The Solid Axle Corvette Club Magazine. Vol. 24, Number 1, Spring 2017, pp. 26-29.
On line: www.registryofcorvetteracecars.com (sorry, but this is a members-only site).
(We’re looking forward to sharing more pictures when George, who is also a great photographer,
returns from his visit later this month!)

I am spending July and part of August in Western Michigan and have taken the opportunity to
visit the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, near Kalamazoo in southwestern Michigan.
Vintage 1920s hearse with wood carved paneling.
On Saturday, August 5th, the Museum held it's “Red Barns Spectacular,” a giant car
show/swap meet of over 1800 classics.
Some of the classic cars on the lawn awaiting judging.
This turned out to be a beautifully sunny day; ideal for a car show. The Gilmore is on 90
acres of an old farm and was started in 1966 to house Donald Gilmore's one-of-a-kind
collection of some of the world's most renowned automobiles. Much has changed over the
years and it is now North America's largest auto museum with almost 400 cars on display and
189,000 square feet of exhibit space in numerous vintage structures.
Have a good summer all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grant Simon's Legislative Report
New Jersey Senate Bill to Require Warranty Disclosure Passes Assembly;
Moves to Senate
• The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act regulates warranties for the protection of consumers and
provides that vehicle manufacturers may not deny warranty coverage based on the use of an
aftermarket part alone.
• In December 2010, the Federal Trade Commission issued an Alert stating that the
manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs
before denying warranty coverage.
• Consumers are generally unaware of the rights afforded them under the law and many are
forced to absorb the costs for repairs that were properly covered under the warranty. A.B.
2612 would simply provide that consumers be made aware in ten-point boldface type of these
basic rights.
Overview: Legislation (A.B. 2612) to require new car dealers to provide purchasers a written
statement declaring it is illegal for manufacturers or dealers to void a warranty or deny coverage
because aftermarket or recycled parts were installed was approved by the full Assembly. The bill
was amended to require the vehicle manufacturer to provide the written statement and not the
dealer. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for consideration. Grant Simon

History, August, 2017 There was no recorded August History for 1995, so the following is the Running Board History from
September, 1995, as the club took a two-month-long summer vacation. All upcoming meetings were
to be held at the Collier County Library in Naples on Central Avenue. The events already scheduled
for the year included a "welcome back" party for the first Saturday in November; the Depot Show on
the second Saturday in March; and a Farewell event the last weekend in April. The following article
was submitted by Gregory Von Dare:
LINCOLN 1945-1995 (A Book)
This summer a professional photographer named Dan Lyons called Mary and Carl Allen and told them
he had submitted a photo of their '52 Lincoln to be published in a new book to be released this
summer (1995). The book is LINOLN 1945-1995 by Gregory Von Dare. There were over 1800
professional photographs submitted and a board of seven judges went over the pictures. Two of the
judges were Design Executives of the Ford Motor Company's Lincoln-Mercury Division.
Dan called again to tell them (The Allen's) three photos he submitted were in the last batch of 250
remaining after previous elimination reduced the 1800 original submissions. He called one last time,
thrilled to announce his photograph of the Allen's 1952 Lincoln was to appear on the cover of the
book!! The Allen's are justifiably pleased and proud. Congratulations to them both!
