CHANGES TO HOW WE WEAR ID BADGESTo strengthen our physical security, everyone working at or traveling to WTC must now wear their ID badges visibly, above the waist. Visible badges are a simple way to identify at a glance who does and doesn’t belong at our locations.

Everyone is also required to badge in at every secure entrance — please do not tailgate. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll introduce badging requirements at each of our locations. It takes all of us to keep PGE secure; be sure to follow safety and security protocols.

STRATEGYPURSUE excellence in our work

Safety and innovation meet at Portland Service Center’s new garage Last month, our new and innovative garage at Portland Service Center opened for business. The old building was too small for modern line trucks, so when trucks were serviced, the roll-up doors had to be left open. In the summer, the garage became oven-hot, and in the winter, it was icebox-cold.

“This new garage is state-of-the-art, both for safety and for modern working conditions for our garagemen,” says Wayne Palmquist, a supervisor with Fleet & Garage Operations. “The team looked 20 years into the future when we designed this facility.”

The latest designs and modern safety features are included in the heating, ventilation and cooling systems in the PSC garage. “There are automated electric windows in each of the skylights that provide cross ventilation, and there’s an underground vehicle exhaust duct system to protect workers from fumes,” explains Josh Fromm, a specialist with Facilities Management, who led the construction project.

Other distinctive features include solar panels to power the garage and a rooftop fall restraint system for building maintenance use.

1. On July 12, employees celebrated the opening of the PSC garage and toured the facility. Josh Fromm, a specialist with Facilities Management (center), led a tour group that included Maria Pope, president and CEO, and George Jones, a manager with Distribution Services.

2. From the service pit at the bottom of the garage to the solar panels on top, the facility incorporates the latest in safety and high-tech features.3. The space meets the newest OSHA rules for fall protection and emergency exits. It is also built to the latest seismic standards, making it a safer place to work.5. The garage is designed for future computer diagnostic usage and electric fleet needs. 6. On a clear day, the rooftop-mounted solar panels generate enough power to supply the entire garage.

WITH THREE DECADES OF DEDICATED SERVICE, WE BID FAREWELL TO CAROL DILLIN

After 31 years at PGE, including 14 as a member of the officer team,

vice president of Customer Strategies and Business Development, Carol Dillin moved on to new adventures at the end of July.

When looking back at her time at PGE, Dillin's career highlights included successfully restoring the company’s reputation following PGE’s 2006 return to independence — leading us to top-decile performance in customer satisfaction, favorability (i.e. reputation) and trust, and helping to instill community involvement as part of who we are as a company.

“It’s been a true pleasure to have worked with such a superb team of professionals, both within my CS&BD team and throughout the company,” Dillin says.

Most recently, Dillin led the CS&BD team to spearhead our efforts to create great experiences and offer innovative products to meet customers' changing needs. She has also represented PGE in the community, serving on the boards of the PGE Foundation and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Bon voyage, Carol!
