looking for emotional stories of people in need. We want to help deserving people—people who always help others, but never think of themselves." Then it asked the big question: "If you had one wish in the world and could ask for absolutely anything from the heart, what would it

be?"

The television producers said that money was no object, which may explain why the show was canceled after only two and a half months. Making wishes come true can get very expensive.

But what if your biggest wish really could come true? What if the person asking what you wanted had infinite resources? What wish would you make?

King Solomon was faced with such a wish. In 1 Kings 3:5 we read that God said to Solomon,

“Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”

If you could wish for anything in the world, what would it be? Some people wish they had different abilities—“I wish I could sing like Beyonce,” or, “I wish I could pass a football like Tom Brady.”

Others wish for a change in their life circumstances—“I wish I had a multi-million dollar mansion on Flathead Lake instead of my house in Helena,” or, “I wish I didn’t have diabetes,” or, “I wish I was a five-foot eleven inches tall, instead of being so short,” or, “I wish I was five-foot four instead of being so tall.” There is something they have that they wish they didn't have, or something they don't have that they wish they had. What would your wish be?

A few years ago, there was a television reality show called Three Wishes and they went around to small towns across America asking what people wished for. The show didn’t last long because the ratings were poor.

But the producers of the show made wishes come true. The application for the show said, "We are

DEHYDRATION

The wave of nausea slammed into me, and drove me down to the ground on all fours. A headache had been slowly increasing in pressure like a vice on my temples for a while, but the urge to wretch came abruptly. Because I had not been drinking enough water, I was stricken with altitude sickness while my family and I were backpacking between elevations of 10,000 and 12,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. I was dehydrated.

As I slept in the tent, my wife asked some experienced mountain climbers camped nearby what to do. Instead of going to a lower elevation, they said, “Water. Lots of water. As much as he can stand.”

Upon waking, Kristin handed me a CamelBak full of water and said, “Start drinking.” Over the next few hours, I would drink some water, then sleep; then drink more water, then sleep some more. Repeat. Eventually, I was re-hydrated, and could stand and move around without feeling dizzy or nauseous.

Solomon responded by saying,

“…give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong.” 1 Kings 3:9

(Other translations say give your servant an “understanding heart”, “hearing heart”, “listening heart” or “wisdom.”)

With the opportunity to ask for anything, Solomon asked for wisdom. Have you?

connection, and preparation. Early this month, the Global Leadership Summit provides a valuable, actionable experience with people from around our community. I hope you’ll attend. Later, our Holland Lake camping trip provides four days of getting to know each other at a new level. And throughout the entire month, many of us are preparing to launch Awana, Enfuego, Confirmation, and Voltage (children’s and youth school year ministries) and all of our small groups. We want to be fully prepared when school starts. So let’s learn, connect and prepare well in August.

water intake. Our spiritual well-being is directly tied to our relationship with God, the “spring of living water” (Jeremiah 2:13, NIV). There are many things in our lives that we think will satisfy our longing for a deep and personal connection, like more money, power, excitement, material goods, and so on. But as we continually pursue these things, we get irritable, and excessively tired, and develop headaches, due to the frustration and disappointment of being unfulfilled, which happen to be symptoms of altitude sickness and dehydration.

The cure physically and spiritually is the same: more water. Jesus said, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst” (John 4:14, NIV). He was not referring to the liquid. He was referring to the satisfaction only faith in Him can provide. Therefore, at the end of the Book of Revelation, John implores us to “come and drink. Drink freely of the Water of Life” (Revelation 22:17, MSG).

LCC PRESCHOOL HAPPENINGS

Classroom supplies have been ordered, the classroom is being cleaned and spruced up for a new school year! Miss Doris will visit all of the children at their homes later in August. This is a prime opportunity to meet the children, visit and answer any questions they may have. This visit is beneficial as it allows the teacher to meet the children in their own environment and alleviate any anxieties they may have.

We still have a few openings in our classes. We offer two classes. The 4-5 yr olds meet on MWF 8:45-11:30 and the 3-4 yr olds meet on TTH 8:45-11:15. Classes begin on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4.

Enrollment forms are available in the church foyer or office, and on the Preschool page of the church website. Children must be age 3 (TTH) or 4 (MWF) by Sept. 10, 2019 to enroll.

Please help us to share information about our preschool program with family, friends and community! 406-442-6813 - [email protected]

God is active in our everyday lives...we just have to learn to look. We have to make it a habit to keep an eye out for the daily overwhelming evidence that God is doing great things all around us.

At VBS, the kids and adults were encouraged look for God Sightings—everyday clues that God is pre-sent, passionate, and powerful. A God Sighting is simply an acknowledgment that God has done something. It’s giving God credit where credit is due. It’s developing a God-focused view and a grate-ful heart. God Sightings can be found in things like Scripture, people, circumstances, and nature.

Children who attended VBS:

“Got to meet a new friend” “It was raining, but the sun was out!” “Had fun with Grandma”

A mom whose child attended VBS:

“We were at Spring Meadow playing on the beach, and my son covered a large stone with dirt, then washed off with water saying, ‘The dirt is my sins, and in the name of Jesus, he washes them away!’… VBS makes a big difference in the kids’ lives. Even the ones who don’t look like they’re listening, really are.”
