Jeremiah 23:23-2923 "Am I only a God nearby," declares the LORD, "and not aGod far away? 24 Can anyone hide in secret places so that Icannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven andearth?" declares the LORD. 25 "I have heard what the prophetssay who prophesy lies in my name. They say, `I had a dream! I

had a dream!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts ofthese lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their ownminds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget myname, just as their fathers forgot my name through Baal worship. 28 Let the prophetwho has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD. 29 "Is not my word likefire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

Hebrews 12:1-131 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let usthrow off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us runwith perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the au-

thor and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Considerhim who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow wearyand lose heart. 4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point ofshedding your blood. 5 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that ad-dresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do notlose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, andhe punishes everyone he accepts as a son." 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God istreating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8 If you are notdisciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate childrenand not true sons. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined usand we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our

spirits and live! 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; butGod disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No disciplineseems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest ofrighteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 "Make level paths for your feet," sothat the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Luke 15:3-63 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheepand loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and goafter the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on hisshoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and

says, `Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.'
