WEEKLY REPORT—WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2016

They are filled with shame and cannot help their children. Suzanne believes that “Each one/Teach one” is a goal of her organization. They need to serve over 100,000 persons in Hawaii. Programs include: 1) Adult literacy and parents achieving literacy (free literacy tutoring) ; 2) Family literacy (two free libraries) ; 3) Bookmobile (14 need sites) ; 4) English-Language-Learner classes (free English classes). Suzanne shared “Ten ways you can help in 2016,” including a kindle drive, volunteering at a program, helping with events, making a donation, sponsor a student, spread the work, and following them in Twitter or Facebook. The organization is grant dependent and is involved in fund raisers. Quarterly assessments are done looking at high-frequency words and portfolios. Adults complete workbooks. Pictures were taken and thanks were given. Kathryn Henski had her ticket drawn for our Investment portfolio. Too bad, a red marble was drawn. PP Joe lead the group in the Four Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Past President Carol Riley
