†HYMNS OF FAITH

“When the Roll Is Called up Yonder”

All: When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more, and the morning breaks eternal, bright and fair; when the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, and the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. When the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. “Love Lifted Me”

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore, very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more: but the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry, from the water lifted to me, now safe am I. Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, love lifted me. Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, love lifted me. “Victory in Jesus”

I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory, how he gave his life on Calvary to save a wretch like me; I heard about his groaning, of his precious blood's atoning, then I repented of my sins and won the victory.

August 5 FUMC Bulletin FINAL.indd 2 8/1/18 4:53 PM

O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever! He sought me and bought me with his redeeming blood; he loved me ere I knew him, and all my love is due him; he plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.

“When We All Get to Heaven”

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus; sing his mercy and his grace. In the mansions bright and blessed he’ll prepare for us a place. When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!

†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH NO. 881 The Apostles’ Creed

All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *universal

†GLORIA PATRI NO. 714 “I Know Whom I Have Believed”

All: I know not why God’s wondrous grace to me he hath made known, nor why, unworthy, Christ in love redeemed me for his own. But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day. SONG “One Drop of Water” (Ralph Stanley) The Whitlock Ramblers “Light at the River” (Bud Brewster/Carl Story) CHILDREN’S SERMON ∙ BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS Rev. Boone †HYMN “Just Over in the Glory Land”

I’ve a home prepared where the saints abide, over in the gloryland; and I long to be by my Savior’s side, over in the gloryland. Just over in the gloryland, I’ll join the happy angel band, just over in the gloryland; Just over in the gloryland, there with the mighty host I’ll stand, just over in the gloryland. I am on my way to those mansions fair, over in the gloryland: there to sing God’s praise and his glory share, over in the gloryland. Just over in the gloryland, I’ll join the happy angel band, just over in the gloryland; Just over in the gloryland, there with the mighty host I’ll stand, just over in the gloryland.

Holy Communion served in the Latimer Chapel at 10:00 a.m.

PASTORAL PRAYER ∙ LORD’S PRAYER Rev. Ethridge

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. GIVING OF GOD’S TITHES AND OUR OFFERINGS OFFERTORY “Morning Trumpet” (arr. Wayne Hooper) Chancel Choir

Choir: O when shall I see Jesus and reign with him above, and shall hear the trumpet sound in that morning. And from the flowing fountain drink everlasting love, and shall hear the trumpet sound in that morning. Oh, shout glory, for I shall mount above the skies, when I hear the trumpet sound in that morning. Gird on the gospel amour of faith and hope and love, and you’ll hear the trumpet sound in that morning. And when the combat’s ended, he’ll carry you above, and you’ll hear the trumpet sound in that morning. Our eyes shall then with rapture the Savior’s face behold; and we’ll hear the trumpet sound in that morning. Our feet, no more diverted, shall walk the streets of gold, and we’ll hear the trumpet sound in that morning. †DOXOLOGY

All: Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness, sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve; Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping, we shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves, we shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves; Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves, we shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

(11:15) Choir members who sang in the 9:00 service may choose to leave during the Doxology. †SCRIPTURE LESSON Ephesians 4:1-16 New Testament, p. 236

†HYMN NO. 2282 “I’ll Fly Away”

All: Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away; to a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away. I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away. When I die halleluiah, by and by, I’ll fly away. When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away; like a bird from prison bars has flown, I’ll fly away. I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away. When I die halleluiah, by and by, I’ll fly away. Just a few more weary days and then, I’ll fly away; to a land where joys shall never end, I’ll fly away. I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away. When I die halleluiah, by and by, I’ll fly away. GUATEMALA MISSION TEAM COMMISSIONING (9:00) †BENEDICTION Rev. Boone
