Humans doubt. It’s what we do. We doubt ourselves and we doubt others. Before any of us say anything about Peter’s doubting the words of Jesus that told him he could get out of his boat and walk on water, we need to get real with ourselves: How would I respond in the same situation? I remember when I was child taking swimming lessons. One day I simply tightened up my muscles and sank. The lifeguard pulled me up and asked what happened. I said I did not know. The truth is that I was sinking under the weight of my own doubt. I did not believe I could do what clearly, I was told I could. That was only in five feet of water in a pool! Now that I’m older, I can look back and laugh. But as an adult, the swimming pool is life, and I would be lying if I said that there are no longer times I find myself sinking due to new doubts. Much of our doubt comes about because of a lack of trust in God. We place our trust in material things, wealth, or imperfect people instead of the One who is worthy of our trust 100 percent of the time. Our stewardship is often hampered by our doubt that God will provide all that we need. If I give more, I may not have enough to survive! When we place all our trust in God, not only do we find that we have been given all we need – our doubt that causes us to sink in the pool of life fades away. We don’t suddenly become perfect in our trust, and there will be times when we find ourselves with concerns again. However, it is in those moments we find that He is still there, speaking the words we need to hear: “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” - Tracy Earl Welliver

Ahora que soy mayor, puedo mirar atrás y reír. Pero como adulto, la piscina es la vida, y estaría mintiendo si dijera que ya no hay veces que me hunda debido a nuevas dudas. Gran parte de nuestra duda surge debido a la falta de confianza en Dios. Ponemos nuestra confianza en cosas materiales, riqueza o personas imperfectas en lugar de Aquel que es digno de nuestra confianza el 100 por ciento del tiempo. Nuestra corresponsabilidad a menudo se ve obstaculizada por nuestra duda de que Dios proporcionará todo lo que necesitamos. ¡Si doy más, puede que no tenga suficiente para sobrevivir! Rutan & Kel-logg, entry at mausoleum On Saturday, September 12, pro-life Americans throughout the country will gather at the gravesites of aborted babies and other memorial sites dedicat-ed in their honor for the eighth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Solemn vigils will be held at these sites to commem-orate the more than 60 million children who have lost their lives to legal abortion since 1973, and to re-mind our society of the humanity of the unborn child. Please join us for the memorial service in our community. Together let us remember the victims of abortion and pray for a final end to this injustice in our land during the National Day of Remem-brance for Aborted Children.

PARISH FESTIVAL 2020 CANCELLED
Festival Parroquial Cancelado With the uncertainty of the pandemic, we feel it is most prudent to cancel the Parish Festival this year. We are saddened by this decision. Last year was such a wonderful and fun time. We were able to come together as a parish family by celebrating and enjoying each other with a variety of activities, games, and food. Please put on your calendars for next year, September 19, 2021, as we plan our next Parish Festival for that time. Baptism Parents: Must be parishioners of the Cathedral and be registered at least 1 month before baptism. They must present a copy of the child's birth certificate so that all names are spelled correctly on the baptismal certificate. Godparents: They must be married by the Catholic Church and they must present their marriage certificate (a photo is acceptable). They have to be confirmed and they must present their certificate of confirmation (a photo is acceptable). If they are not parishioners of the Cathedral, they must present a letter of permission from their parish priest where they attend Mass. Single sponsors: They must be over 16 years old. They must present a copy of their confirmation certificate. Parents who are not parishioners: If you want your child to be baptized in the Cathedral, parents must present a letter of permission from their parish priest where they are registered, and all the documents mentioned above. (For example, when the godparents are parishioners and the parents come to the Cathedral from another parish to baptize.) All must present a certificate or letter verifying that they took the baptism class. Baptism Classes in English: 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Marian Room; located on second floor of the parish office. Registration is required. Baptisms: Monthly on 2nd Saturdays at 6:15 p.m. and monthly on 2nd Sundays at 11:15 a.m. Please call the parish receptionist to register for Baptism class and/or arrange the baptism date at 263-6574.
