StronG beGinninGS If you are not familiar with Strong Beginnings we can introduce you to this summer's graduates who will be entering Kindergarden at the end of this month. Strong Beginnings is a program designed to prepare children for the immense world of school, one they will be living and learning in for many years to come. How they enter into school can make the difference in how they continue. Strong Beginnings takes refines a child's skills in order to create a better foundation for the future. "(it) involves mainly, building foundations for learning in children, helping them with language skills, reading, comprehension, mathematics, also computer skills, to help them become more rounded." Aubrey McCaster -Facilities Director (Heidelburg) If you are interested in registering your child for the Strong Beginnings programs -Summer Camp (August 9-13) or for the school year, contact the CDC at 753-8601

tipS of the month - Summer is still in full bloom and the Korean sun, although sometimes diffuse, can burn your child's fragile skin quickly. Please remember to apply sunscreen on your child before arriving to the CDC. Outside play is vital for our healthy children. - Please label all of your child's belongings. A change of clothes is a must in case of a water table accident, spilled milk or a potty accident.

Your attention to these items make it easier for our providers to attend to all our little ones.

August Technology TipWe all want to go and help the environment. Here are a couple simple tips to save

energy, dollars and do your part in going green. Think about all the devices in your home that are plugged into an electrical outlet. How many of those devices can be unplugged until they are actually used? Devices such as game consoles, computers,

chargers and even kitchen appliances can be plugged in only for the amount of time they are used instead of 24/7.

Another way to save is with batteries. Batteries that are too weak to power devices will normally have sufficient amount of life left to power a remote control for several

months. Also, removal of batteries from devices that are not being used can help prevent unnecessary drainage and corrosion. Another tip is to store batteries in the refrigerator. Studies have shown that warmer tempuratures cause batteries to drain. Rechargable batteries are a great option for less demanding devices, be sure to re-

charge before they die for best results.

We’re a Christian family in a modern world. Our faith has been tested throughout the years, but our love for the Lord keeps us united. My wife and I come from different cultural backgrounds so that has kept things interesting. We do turn some heads over here in Korea because it’s not every day you see a Korean man with an American woman (usually the other way around). We have two beautiful children. Both who love the attention they grab from anyone who walks by. Our son Chase started kindergarten this last year and also plays soccer in the youth services. Taylor has no idea she is just a little tiny girl so she tends to follow her big brother and tries to do what he does. But being in the Camp Humphreys’ Play Group has given her the chance to be around children her own age.
