Annual Report for the Year 2015-16

Jammu and Kashmir is the northernmost of and comprises of three regions: , Kashmir and . is the summer capital of the State whereas is its winter capital. The State of Jammu &

Kashmir has its rich cultural and spiritual heritage inherited through ages from renowned Sufis, Saints and Buddhist Monks and the State is thus known for its traditional age- old bond of communal harmony and brotherhood.

Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, out of his love and compassion for his devotees first visited Jammu and Kashmir in August 1957 and again in June 1980. After the eruption of militancy and turmoil in the valley from the year 1989 onwards, the devotees from Kashmir and Jammu started working together on the programs of the Organisation at Jammu and its adjoining districts and thereby, a marked diversification of the activities took place with the constitution of more Samithis for this purpose and increased participation of devotees and active workers.

In order to streamline the activities of the State Organisation in a better way, Sai Prashanthi Trust J & K was constituted in August 2015 which proved to be a milestone, as this paved the way for acquiring four Kanals of land (260 ft x85 ft) for construction of Sai Center at Halqa Marh Jammu, the Bhoomi Pujan of which was

rdperformed on 3 October 2016 by the august hands of Sh.Nimish Pandya All India President, Sh.N.Ramani National Vice President of SSSSO's India and myself as State President. This ceremony was also graced by Mrs.Karuna Sarup Munshi of Radio Sai Global Harmony, eminent persons from all walks of society and besides by some of the esteemed Office Bearers from the Organisations of neighboring States. With the divine blessings of Bhagwan Baba, I hope the Sai Center in Jammu will come up within a span of two years which will give further fillip to our organizational activities.

I have no hesitation in admitting that though ours is a small Organisation, but in spite of that, it has been our constant effort to insist upon quality than quantity in all of our organizational activities, to achieve good results and to a large extent we have been successful also in this, only because of the invisible hand of Bhagwan Baba in all our sincere efforts. In the days to come, I have fervent hope that with the establishment of Sai Center in Jammu, the expansion programme of our organizational activities in the field of Service, Spiritual and Education will be extended in other areas and districts for the people of our State without any distinction on the basis of caste, colour or creed and with more active participation of devotees and active workers whom Bhagwan Baba has destined to play their role in this effort.

I pray to Bhagwan Baba to shower his grace on our strife torn State so that peace and tranquility returns to this State at the earliest, and to inspire and guide us so as to become His worthy instruments to carry forward His mission.

Students from the schools along the border areas who are part of the J&K Sai Organization's Bal Vikas program participated in the Shalokas and Mantra chanting, Bhajan singing, Martial Arts Demonstrations and a Cultural program.

The proposed Sai Centre will focus on promoting the sarva dharma or multi-faith path of loving acceptance of diversity and universal human values as

propounded by Bhagawan Baba. In its first phase of its development, the Center will house an elevated Sarva Dharma Stupa, Prayer Hall, Office,

Kitchen, Dining Hall, Wash rooms and Guest rooms. To recreate Prashanthi Nilayam ambiance, the Sai Centre will have the ashram's signature

architectural theme and colour palette, thus making it a divine landmark visible from far and wide. It is thus evident that the Lord has willed to heal this

region of its historic tensions, anger, violence and mistrust through multi-faith prayers, yagnas, and unconditional Sai love flowing through ongoing

Seva activities. Everyone present at the ceremony experienced the divine presence of the Lord. A string of mysterious coincidences point to

Bhagawan's direct hand behind every step taken so far. (Courtesy- Adapted from the report posted in Facebook of Radio Sai)

Cap.Purshotam Sharma (Retd)

Honest persons are the elevated human beings who are pure, prudent, truthful, frank, fearless and selfless. They store their treasure with sacred jewels of merits. They deliver justice, generate joys, champion good causes and the 'salt of earth' indeed .Conscientious, considerate and contained, they strive to accomplish everything by honest endeavour. They carry a feeling that man is born empty- handed and leaves this world empty-handed, then why not live a clean life and bring glory to earthly sojourn by treading the path of righteousness. By doing so, they bring laurels to the Mother Earth, mother of their body, society and their clan. They believe in the axiom “Earn thy Bread by the Sweat of Thy Brow”. Like seers, honest persons are “Sarva Bhoota Hite Ratah” (engrossed in the welfare of all beings).

Heroically fighting the foes of temptations and greed with the weapon of honesty, honest persons are pillars of strength to the mansion of society. They radiate harmony and splendor all round. Dear to masses, honest persons are held in high esteem and admired as trusted friends, the role model for others to emulate. They are endeared by Gods and Goddesses also for their beauty of character. No doubt, they fashion the fate of the society and enrich it in all respects. They conquer the six enemies of man namely, lust, wrath, greed, delusion, infatuation and jealousy. They possess courage in abundance to swim across the currents for the sake of honesty.

Dishonest persons are like devilish, sinners and sheer burden on the society. They cause pain and suffering to the by indulging in corrupt practices and lowly actions. Bereft of the knowledge of the real purpose of human birth, they are in chains of vices and temptations and commit all sorts of crimes for the sake of their material gains at the cost of others. They offend not only the society but God too.

Our scriptures loudly tell us that we are born naked and naked shall we leave this world and bring along the impressions of our past deeds (Karmas) and our joys or sorrows, liberation or bondage depend on our “Karmas”. Just stop and spend few seconds to give a look to the bleeding dog with punctured skin full of worms and imagine and feel its pain and suffering. It has been in perennial groaning day in and day out for months together before the God of Death shows his benevolence and takes the animal to his fold. Rewards and punishments are the harvest of good and bad deeds. The present turmoil and suffering of the society can be cured if all resolve to be honest. Particularly those occupying high chairs and wielding powers must treat themselves mere trustees of the public properties and funds at their disposal and ensure their utilization for the welfare of people. They must feel privileged and Never, Never, Never forget that it was the fruit of past good deeds that they were picked up by the Lord for an assignment of public service and any misuse of authority amounts to breach of trust which is sinful. Therefore, Lords's Grace must be honored and treasured as Divine Merit. Let us all embrace Mother Honesty and let the obsession of Dishonesty vanish. Let the dishonests transform themselves for the sake of Golden Age.

♣ To remove the evil of egoism, seva is the most efficient instrument. Seva will also impress on the person doing seva the unity of mankind. He who dedicates his time, strength and skill to service can never meet defeat, distress or disappointment, for seva is the own reward.

♣ It is the weak, the destitute and the helpless who need to be served. Even in rendering service to such persons there should be no feeling that we are serving others. We should feel that we are serving the Lord Narayana who dwells in them.
