MATT “THE MAJOR” CLARKE

1. What type of mo have you gone for this season?

Apart from being railroaded into captaincy of the team ( I kid ) The main inspiration for my participation into movember is the cause it supports. Also I’m interested to see how a carefully cultivated cookie duster suits my mug.

2. Who is your inspiration for participating in movember?

Going for ‘The Major’ (in other words a Borat style for those not versed in mo

language) but I’m keeping my options open as my moustache growing ability is limited,

it could be demoted to ‘Fluff’.

3. If you Mo had a name what would it be?

For all those Simpsons fans, id have to choose “Ned “

4. How happy are you with the progress of your mo so far?

Currently sporting some overgrown stubble. Here’s hoping things improve.

David Boon, Merv Hughes & Allan Border (Back in the day when cricketers could drink

beer by the yard-glass, grow real mo’s, don’t wear helmets (to protect against magpies,

plovers, thrown beer cans, etc) & can actually play cricket!!) I would say Bob Hawke

also, though I don’t remember he ever grew a mo when he was Prime Minister (*maybe

because I wasn’t born then ;) ) but because of his inspirational Australia II speech &

yard-glass beer-drinking!

3. If you Mo had a name what would it be?

“The Mo” (***Nothing more needs to be said.***)

4. How happy are you with the progress of your mo so far?

Happy.. As long as the Mo competition is based on quality not quantity.. I am happy.

I’m going with the tried and tested undercover brother. Im going for the whole

2. Who is your inspiration for participating in movember?

All time inspirational mo that comes to mind must be David Boon, I mean anyone who

can pull a mo like that off and sink a brewery on a flight to England deserves to be

remembered for their efforts.

3. If you Mo had a name what would it be?

My mo will be The Walowitz, Sure its just pretty ordinary, but offends almost every

woman who sees it.

4. How happy are you with the progress of your mo so far?

There is some growth, more than I expected, started out strong, lets see if it can last

the distance.

Week One is now at a close Come back next week

To follow the MO’s The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research

The funds raised in Australia support equally the two biggest health issues men face – prostate cancer and

depression. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health

partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue: the national depression initiative.

Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of

innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals, in the areas of awareness and education,

survivorship and research.

Global Action Plan

Movember - a global movement

Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement

inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate, with formal campaigns in Australia, New

Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. In addition,

Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause right across

the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in

between.

No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes

men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, getting them to act on that

knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

In 2010, over 130,000 Australian Mo Bros and Sistas got on board, raising $25 Million AUD.
