Austin MetroRail Schedules & Fares

Capital MetroRail Fares Capital MetroRail is divided into two fare zones. The zone boundary is between Kramer and Howard Station. If your trip crosses the zone boundary you pay an All Zones fare.

Two-Hour MetroRail Tickets Two-Hour Tickets can only be purchased at the TVMs and are only valid for the train and the connector buses at Downtown (routes 460, 461, 462) and MLK, Jr. (routes 464, 465) Stations. All tickets from a TVM are issued validated and passengers should proceed directly to the train. Riders should arrive early at the station if they plan to purchase their fare from a TVM.

Capital MetroPlus PassesPassengers planning to connect to local routes are encouraged to purchase a Capital MetroPlus Pass, which are valid on all rail and bus services.

Capital Metro encourages riders to purchase their passes in advance from the Capital Metro Transit Store, other retail outlets, such as H-E-B, or online. Passes purchased in advance must be validated at a rail station validator on the rail platform before boarding the train. Passes can also be purchased from the TVMs at the station. TVM issued passes are already validated upon purchase.

* For students 18 and under or active military with appropriate ID. ** H.E.B. is the only retail outlet that sells the Capital MetroPlus 5-Day Pass, at this time.

The following passengers ride free on Capital MetroRail: Seniors and Disability Fare Card holders (with Capital Metro-issued ID); MetroAccess certified (with Capital MetroAccess issued ID); UT students, faculty and staff (with valid UT ID); Individuals with employer-purchased passes (with employer issued pass and valid employee ID); Law enforcement, fire and military personnel in uniform; and children under six (when accompanied by an adult).
