The certification of these authorized workshops iscarried out by the Safety Committee of WestfaliaSeparator AG in accordance with strict criteria andstandards. When the extensive organisational and technical conditions have been met, the SafetyCommittee appoints a safety officer – likewise in accordance with binding standards and highdemands. The responsibility of the authorized workshops for the safety and performance of ourmachines can therefore be personally addressed.

Maintenance, spare parts, repairs and servicefrom Westfalia Separator stand for care, precision and the sense of responsibility on thepart of the technology leader in the field ofmechanical separation technology. As a result,customers profit from the assurance of theirseparators’ and decanters’ operational safety,performance and economy.

The establishment of a worldwide network of authorized workshops now makes these advantagesavailable to our customers along the shortest possible path, internationally and at a uniformly highlevel of quality. This is particularly true in thoseinstances where, to date, only the Westfalia Separator facilities in Oelde, Niederahr and ChatêauThierry were able to provide assistance. Beginningnow, customers have the advantages of excellenceand time savings when it comes to replacementparts and repairs in those areas where certified performance, suitably qualified service personneland OEM spare parts were previously only availableat great expense with regard to time and costs.

The prerequisite for this unique level of uniformlyhigh maintenance quality is a network of authorizedworkshops. Supported by first-class equipment andcontrol of repair orders which has been optimizeddown to the last detail, top performance is guaranteed by the employment of only demonstrablyqualified safety officers and service technicians.

With this global network of authorized workshops,Westfalia Separator has created the foundation forfast reactions and short paths to the customer. Thismakes certified service work available anywhere andat any time. In turn, this increases the availability ofour centrifuges on the one hand while, on the other,it decreases time-dependent operating costs whichcan result from, among other things, long paths for the provision of qualified repairs or OEM parts, or which can result from unplanned machinedowntimes.

The designation as a “Westfalia Separator Authorized Workshop“ represents a certifiedseal of approval on which our customers canrely. It stands for a global system of specialists,repair and maintenance services tested andevaluated down to the last detail together withOEM parts for high-speed centrifuges. All theseservices have been qualified and certified in accordance with applicable regional andinternational standards as well as the stringentrequirements of Westfalia Separator.

The Westfalia Separator AG Safety Committee – whichhas been established by our Executive Board as thefinal arbitrator in all matters related to the safety ofour technology – employs strict criteria and standardsfor certification.

When authorizing a workshop, machine technologylevels and the quality of the maintenance and repairwork are examined just as closely as the layout of the

facility including the machinery setup. Beyond this,every step in the employed repair process from orderreceipt to return delivery is examined.

Even once the workshop meets these organizationaland technical requirements there is an additional authorization step: within the context of its examination of a certification request the WestfaliaSeparator AG Safety Committee in Oelde appoints orconfirms a safety officer who must also be qualifiedand examined in accordance with binding standardsand stringent requirements.

Based on the Westfalia Separator promise of “Life Cycle Benefit®”, the responsibility of the authorized workshop for the safety andperformance of our machines is binding andcan be personally addressed.

Upon initial certification, the Safety Committeeappoints or confirms the safety officer. The requirement for this position is that the individualhas been trained at our main plant and has successfully passed the certification examination.This certification documents the safety officer’s ability to perform the assigned tasks:

The safety officer is responsible for all safety-related repairs to Westfalia Separatorseparators and decantersThe safety officer must therefore have the ability to technically assess these repairs and to prepare and document specifications related to their performanceThe safety officer is responsible for all technical communications with the individuallyrelevant technical departments

Centrifuges are machines subject to high loadswhich have proven themselves around theworld operating continuously and creating highvalues.

During operation, acceleration forces up to 20,000 G as well as thermal loads and chemicalinfluences which must all be safely managed underextreme operating conditions come into play.

Against this background, quality and safety standards assume utmost priority. This means: Westfalia Separator customers must be able to relyon obtaining the right spare and replacement partsfor their centrifuges which operate at extremespeeds and also that maintenance and repair services which meet the high Westfalia Separatorstandards are available.
