| Automated transformer tests

KONČAR – Electrical Engineering Institute, Inc. has developed a software for automated transformer tests (ATT). ATT enables different tests of power transformers, from simple to the most-complex, with high degree of automation.

Due to the long-term experience of engineers on software development and to the cooperation with transformer factories and their test stations, the software can be modified to meet the requirements of test engineers and to adjust to test station measurement equipment.

ATT leads test engineers through the measurements (it indicates way and order in which instruments should be connected to the measurement system), checks functionality of the measurement system, auto-matically measures different values (currents, voltages, losses, temperatures), performs analysis, saves data to files and generates test reports.

ATT features

Reduction of test cost

Software modularity

Increased accuracy and reliability of measure-

ment results

Software adjustment according to test station

requirements

Test reports provided immediately after

measurement

Higher productivity of test engineers

Test results reported with measurement

uncertainty

Positive image on global market

Flexible

Easier data analysis

Benefits from ATT

Measurements and data analysis are performed in accordance with the latest valid standards (IEC, IEEE/ANSI, CSA and GOST).

Due to software modularity, any of the following measurements may be included in the software:

» measurement of winding resistance:

» U-I method and

» induced voltage correction method (IVCM)

» measurement of load losses,

» measurement of short circuit voltage,

» measurement of no-load losses,

» measurement of no-load current,

» measurement of high order harmonics of no-load current,

» measurement of zero-sequence impedance,

» temperature rise test,

» transformer turns ratio test,

» checking of vector group,

» measurement of stray inductance,

» measurement of cooling system consumption,

» wave sampling.

Measurement, analysis and test reports

Each measurement data analysis is provided with automatically generated worksheets and test reports. Data analysis is also provided for some non-automated measurements (e.g. sound level analysis, SFRA).

Worksheets contain all the measurement data and are suitable for development and research purposes. Test reports are intended for customers - created in different languages and provide the most important data.

To ensure measurement traceability, each test report may be extended (optional) with the report contain-ing measurement system data.

Measurement uncertainty and system accuracyThe final product of ATT measurement and data analysis is a complete measurement result that consists of the best estimate of measured quantity and associated uncertainty. Measurement uncertainty estimation is performed in accordance with the latest standards.

Manual calculation (estimation) of measurement uncertainty is a complex and time-consuming process. Validity of the automatic estimation of measurement uncertainty is demonstrated by the accompanying documentation and automatically generated output lists with whole procedure shown in detail.

Accuracy of the measurement depends on the test station measurement system. By calibration of the measuring instruments and with corrections based on calibration curves, ATT provides the highest possible accuracy of each measurement.
