Automotive Engineering Technology
Why Choose Automotive Engineering Technology?
The AET program is a four year degree program that concentrates on engineering skills requiredby the automotive industry. Students receive hands-on laboratory experience in engineeringprocesses, mechanical testing, metallurgy, emission and dynamometer testing. In addition, anon-the-job engineering internship is an important part of the program.
AET is an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principlesand technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals engaged in developing, manufacturing and testing self-propelled ground vehicles and their systems. Includes instructionin vehicular systems technology, design and development testing, instrument calibration, testequipment operation and maintenance, and report preparation.
Career Opportunities
Graduates from the AET program are among the highest-paid and most sought-after graduates ofFerris. Because every global automotive manufacturer doing business in America requiresengineering development with the precise skills offered by this program, many graduates arefaced with the difficult decision of choosing from several highly desirable and lucrative job offers.
Admission Requirements
Students entering the Automotive Engineering Technology program from high school must havea 2.75 GPA along with an 18 ACT composite and a math sub-score of 19.
Students transferring into Automotive Engineering Technology must also have a minimum 2.75GPA in automotive courses and a minimum 2.5 GPA overall.
