Head to the east coast with Northland to experience stops in Boston, Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont. Planes, trains, and plenty of coast line views. Day 1, Tues. September 29.… Please make your way to Des Moines at your leisure for a pre-night stay near the airport. Your group leader will be waiting for your arrival at the hotel and will give you a quick briefing. Day 2, Wed. September 30. An early flight departure gets us on our way to the east coast. Afternoon will be at leisure with dinner included this evening. (D) Day 3, Thurs. Oct 1.A local guide will be joining our group today for a Boston Tour, which includes the Mapparium, a famous three story stained glass globe, one of the key attractions at the Library. Lunch will be on your own at Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market, a marketplace area with a lot of food vendors, artisans and shops. After lunch you get to visit the Old North Church, built in 1723. The oldest church in the nation that is still in operation. Then on to the Charleston Navy Yard and USS Constitution Museum. (B,D) Day 4, Fri. Oct 2.… You will be touring Lexington and Concord today. First stop is the Harvard Yard Tour & Harvard University. Gain insight about this Ivy League University and the students who attend. Then, on to the JFK Library & Museum. Here you will learn the powerful story of the Kennedy years, giving visitors of all ages an uplifting, “first – hand” experience of president Kennedy’s life, leadership and legacy. Dinner tonight at the Chart House. (B,D) Day 5, Sat. Oct 3 ….. Today you will take Amtrak to Maine. Upon arrival you will enjoy a narrated driving tour of Kennebunk & Kennebunkport. Drive past sandy beaches and the George Bush estate and a stop at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Lunch on your own. Tonight you get to enjoy a dinner in Ogunquit. (B,D) Day 6, Sun. Oct 4.…. A local guide will take you on a narrated tour of Portland which includes a stop at Portland Head Lighthouse. Lunch is included in a historic waterfront district. This afternoon you visit the Maine Narrow Gauge Rail Museum and also get to take a short rail journey before going to Foster’s for a Lobster Bake this evening. (B,L,D) Day 7, Mon. Oct 5.This morning you get to travel on the Notch Train with box lunch included, visit Fadden’s General Store, and Maple Sugar House. Your stay in New Hampshire tonight is at a ski lodge with a buffet dinner. included. Mount Washington Lake Cruise to Winnipesauke and enjoy a scenic one–way ride on Lake Winnipesauke (one of the largest lakes enclosed in one state), aboard the 230’ M/S Mount Washington. Your journey on the ship brings you to the port of Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in America. Then lunch on your own, before Wright Museum, a museum about the World War II years before the Café Lafayette Dinner train tonight. (B,D) Day 9, Wed. Oct 7.… In Vermont today your stops include Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon and Sugarbush Farms for maple syrup & cheddar cheese samples and finally, a visit to Coolidge Birthplace & Homestead. Lunch on own in Woodstock. (B,D) Day 10, Thurs. Oct 8.… Today you will visit the Shelburne Museum which has the Best Collection of Americana in New England. There are 39 buildings on 45 acres. Lunch on your own and then visit the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory with a tour. Dinner tonight at Café Provence, includes a Live Cooking Demonstration with a French chef. (B, D) Day 11, Fri. Oct 9.… Travel to the Vermont Country Store, then on to Hildene for some great sights. After your included lunch at a Sandwich Pavillion, you will then be taken to the Encore Boston Harbor for the remainder of the day. (B,L,) Day 12, Sat. Oct 10.… An early flight from Boston’s Logan International Airport to return home with many wonderful memories and sights seen.
