AVATARS

What is an avatar?

Avatars are a new way to represent yourself and add new

dimensions to your interaction with others online. An avatar

helps express a personal identity by providing a unique

image. In general, avatars provide an ideal image

within a certain setting, that can easily be adapted over

time. The setting in which they are used varies greatly. It

ranges from on-line, to games, to mobile, or print.

How can Avatars help your business?

Current internet solutions are slowly incorporating perso-

nalisation concepts, such as weblogs or your Google Ho-

mepage. We believe that Avatars provide an essential tool

to support brand identity and address individual customer

needs. By using avatars as part of your brand identity, you

can provide interaction that is tailored with a personal

touch. The team of people behind your avatar(s) have

many possibilities to cost effi ciently fulfi l your brand identity

needs.

Are Avatars just a fad?

Actually illustrating idealised fi gures to help convey a mes-

sage is ancient (think of the Egyptians, the Romans and

the Greek). In the modern world, for the past 100 years,

cartoon fi gures have been used for both entertainment and

idealistic purposes. The popularity of cartoon fi gures shows

that we easily identify ourselves with these idealized fi gures.

The current era brings you unique self-images at a cost less

than the average magazine subscription. So we are just at

the beginning of their extensive use which is now growing

at an exponential rate.

CREDIT CAMPAIGN

Premium concept

Challenge: reduce costs for premiums, extend it to an

online experience, and create a positive viral effect with

a stable or increasing popularity over a long period of

time.

Young people are developing an online life next to there

regular life, by communicating with their friends via in-

stant messengers (MSN), make new friends at friendsites

(MySpace), write/read weblogs for specifi c interests, and

watch selfmade short movies (YouTube).

Concept:

Provide young people an online identity, which they need

to maintain and make popular, like a Tamagotchi.

The buyer of the product gets a unique number. With

this number he will get an online character (also called

Avatar) and joins the products community.

This character will be the user’s representative in all

online communication; outgoing email, MSN, MySpace,

Own website, datingsites, mobile phones, etc.

The brand will be related to the avatar.

To distinguish the avatar, he needs more credits to get

e.g. a surfboard or exclusive clothes.

Credits can be provided by a unique number (printed

or sent by SMS) released later in the campaign. These

credits can be used to get items that others (who didn’t

buy the product) can’t get. The users will show these

exclusive items to others to improve their popularity,

which will increase the sales of the product. Everybody

wants to be exclusive.

Other users can rate the character, which shows the

popularity of the character in different levels.

ID Builder:

The online character can enrich and develop his online

identity by using the character intensively but the user

will stay in control of his own baggage (database).

Sharp analysis of the user’s behaviour can be done, as

we get much information from our database: what do

they wear, what are their interests. The database can be

used to send very personal information:

Interests: If you like this book/movie/music you must love

this… too.

Images: You used this fashion so you will love this… too.

Habits: You ate one bag of crisps today if you eat x for

dinner tomorrow you will keep your current weight or

take a walk for 20 minutes.

In the extend of the initial campaign you can get more

credits and bonuses to:

- Moods, to express yourself.

- Let your online character sing/dance/play/design

clothes.

- Join the online sitcom. (Friends/Sex in the City style)

This concept will not require complicated gadgets added

to products but it only requires a unique number.

The customer will keep on using the character and buy

more products to get more credits. The value of cre-

dits will get higher (especially in the long run) which will

enhance the value of the product while the price remains

the same.

The customer and others who are communicating with

the customer will intensively be associated with the brand

which is a very big advantage on any competitor.

A strong marketing/pr can revolutionize this concept.

CREDITCAMPAIGN

We deliver credit packages with an advertiser e.g.

buy a product, and get 50 credits for exclusive items

Page 6: AVATARS - WordPress.com › 2007 › 09 › rninfo.pdf · (=brand) exposure is spread all over the internet. - Image: the WRR image supports the product - We provide a “plug in”

MULTIPLAYER GAMES

Avatars can play simple games

together like Pong, pictionary etc

AVATAR

Have your own avatar created e.g. the Hulk or

Zorro. This avatar can access all chatrooms to

give away credits to the users.

CHATROOM

For Meet & Greet events or any other event you

can sponsor a chatroom that can be customi-

zed for a brand. We can add hosts to talk about

specifi c subjects.

VIRTUAL EVENTS

We can organize an onl ine event for a brand: Model

contest, fashion show, meet&greet, Dating, etc.

Mr & Miss avatar contest

In June we organized the fi rst Mr & Miss Avatar

contest. 39.000 users signed in but only 10 avatars

(boys+girls) with the most votes made it to the fi nals.

We had a panel of dutch celebrities to select the Miss

and Mister Avatar during a live event in a concept

store in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

The fi nalist won a Puch bike, an ONeill surf clinic,

10 Walibi Six Flags tickets and 100 Whyrobbierocks

credits.

VIRAL SEND2FRIEND

An example of a send2friend with the dressup feature of Whyrobbierocks.

You receive a card from a friend with a happy message. You can click on the

“Create Your Own” button and confi gure your own character, add a message

and send it to your friends, which creates a huge viral effect.

We can add an audio message as a personal note, or even for example a

karaoke recording if you like to suprise your friends.

DANCE GAME

DANCE GAME

In this example you use your avatar in a dance game. You configure your

avatar, choose your music style, and let your avatar dance to the music. You

can pick different dance moves, design your own choreography and record it.

You can save your dance moves in the gal lery and have others to vote on it.
