Avengers tested their skills at the Battalion
FTX at the beginning of June with a two day exer-
cise. This was a culminating exercise for warrior
tasks and skills Soldiers had trained on for previous
months. They were tested on IED reac-
tions, first aid , reporting
procedures, radio opera-
tions, EPW searches, map
reading, and land navigation. Pictured
here is SGT Christa (lower left) during
the squad ambush lane. We also cele-
brated Victory Week. On 12 July we
had two extremely challenging events
taking place. This included water sur-
vival training,
pictured above,
where soldiers
were tested on
5 areas includ-
ing the blind-
folded jump off
the high dive
and making a
floatation de-
vice out of your
trousers. The other event was the Bri-
gade Devil Stakes competition where a
Squad made of Soldiers from each pla-
toon competed on SALUTE report and
EPW searches against a squad from
each company in Brigade. A Com-
pany’s squad won the competition
bringing great pride to the Avengers.
The members of the squad were SGT
King, SGT Biggora, SPC Pavlich, SPC
Reynolds, and SPC Jaeger. Great job

ISR Platoon would like to introduce and
welcome its newest member SPC
Mechelle McMullen, arriving fresh from
training at Fort Huachuca. SPC
McMullen has already been a great
asset to

onstrating
a great
attitude.
We would
also like to
say a fond farewell to SGT Luke Liet-
schuck. SGT Lietschuck has been a tre-
mendous asset to the PLT and Alpha
Company as a whole. His dedication to
seeing the ISR Platoon succeed, his
mentorship and leadership of the Sol-
diers, will be all be severely missed. SGT
Lietschuck will be ETSing and returning
home to Florida. ISR Platoon also re-
ceived a significant piece of equipment
this past month, the TROJAN Lite satilite
communications system. SPC(P) Jaeger,
SPC(P) Schira, SPC Pavlich, PFC Na, PV2
Bantz and PV2 Castillo all endured the
105 degree week long weather to re-
ceive and train on the TROJAN. The in-
structors were very satisfied with their
positive attitude and desire to learn. The
Soldiers are all excited to pass along their
experience and training to the other PLT
members. ISR Platoon would also like to

June was another busy
month for second platoon. During the
month, members of the platoon got lots
of excellent training and assisted other
units with their training, including two

at the
end of
the month from a nearly month-long
trip to NTC where he acted as an OC for
an LLVI team from Ft Meade. While he
was there he got plenty of cardio climb-
ing to mountain tops with his team and
with a sniper team. He also got to play
with pyrotechnics, which is always fun!
The platoon did well during the FTX
with SGT Harris successfully leading a
squad of six Soldiers through the lanes
and everyone coming away more pro-
ficient and confident in their Soldier
skills. SGT Harris also went to Ft Hood
to assist with some high
speed training
there as a
“puckster” at the
III Corps War-
fighter Exercises.
SGT Lucas and
SGT King took
part in lifeguard
training, with
SGT Lucas being
chosen to be-
come a lifeguard for the
company. June was also a month of
transition for the platoon as they said
goodbye to SSG McLellan, who left for
Germany, and SPC Lucas who PCS’d to
Hawaii. The platoon will miss the
whimsical stories from SSG McLellan
MSG Platoon
and the
goofball
antics of

great success
in their futures.
Though sec-
ond platoon
lost two assets,
they gained a
new one in
SSG Browne,
who came to
them from Ft Gordon, GA. July is going
to be another fast paced month for the
Soldiers of second, with many of them
enrolled in upcoming training and
schools. Though it will be busy, the pla-
toon will face the challenges and suc-
ceed because that’s how they roll.
say a special thanks to the MSG Platoon’s
“Tangos” (Intelligence Equipment Main-
tainers) who provided significant sup-
port; their efforts vastly increased the
overall success of the training and were
greatly appreciated.
In the month of June, 3rd
PLT had a wide variety of tasks
and training to complete. SSG
French and SGT Crista success-
fully qualified the
majority of A
Company on the
M-4 range. Dur-

HUMINT Platoon
Early in the month of June, Alpha
Company 1-1 BSTB’s HUMINT Pla-
toon began and
conquered the 1-1
BSTB Battalion
FTX. The HUMINT
Platoon success-
fully completed all
five lanes in the 5
lanes in the blister-
ing heat with all
first time Go’s
while showing
courage, stability, and professional-
ism. The 8 man platoon pushed a
HMMWV more than a kilometer
down a dirt road, conducted
MEDEVAC request’s with combat
casualties, conducted counter-
reconnaissance, conducted functions
checks on the M4, M240B, and M249
SAW and sent SALUTE reports. SPC
Ransom successfully completed night
land navigation due to his stupen-
dous navigation. In addition, SGT
Crista, PFC Hebert), and the
Warrior Competition (SGT McIn-
tyre). UAV also met Aircrew
Training Program requirements
by com-

classes on
Airspace,

HAZMAT,
and sev-
eral oth-
ers. The
big project however, was get-
ting ready for the ARMS inspec-
tion. Our efforts were spear-
headed by SGT Jones, SGT Clark,
and SGT McIntyre. The entire pla-
toon spent many long hours pre-
paring for this very important in-
spection. Good job UAV!
Ash carried a total of 150 LBS of
water jugs more than a mile in am-
ple time. The
platoon’s hard
work and prior
review and
drills enabled
them to com-
plete each lane
effortlessly.

several Soldiers: CW2 Dove, SSG Nagel,
SPC Genthon, and SSG McNeil. SGT

long tasking where he provided support
to the Office of the Staff Judge Advo-
cate by being their Administrative NCO
and Information Assurance Support Of-
ficer. SGT Bigorra returned from his
tasking in which he supported Range

DECISIONS
Everyday we make decisions. It is
up to each of us to make decisions
that make us proud . If you enjoy
the Army or you don’t enjoy the
Army; this doesn’t mean that you
can’t set yourself up for success.
Take college classes, get your de-
gree, take lessons for a hobby you
enjoy. It is up to you to take advan-
tage of these things or not. When
no one is pushing you it is up to
you to push yourself. Don’t settle
for average, as long as you do your
best then you will never be disap-
pointed in yourself. What you have
to always remember is that it is up
to you; it is your decision.
