What is RFIDRadio Frequency Identification - a technology that

identifies objects using low-power radio frequency technology.

RFID, in its most basic form, requires two components: ◦RFID Reader ◦RFID Tag

RFID TagReader “speaks” to tag

Radio

Memory

Computer

Power

Radio Signal

Is RFID tag an improvised barcode?

RFID reader “energizes” tag which then transmits stored information back to reader– Uniquely identifies each instance of

a product as well as the product type (so you know which box was scanned)

– Line of sight NOT required– Information can be updated (class 2

and above)– Scan Multiple RFID tags at one time

Laser reader interprets barcode todetermine UPC number

– Static information– Line of sight required – Problem reading soiled barcode

• At UPC level, system doesn’t know if 3 different items were scanned or if the same item was scanned 3 times

• Scan one barcode at a time

RFID System Architecture

Reader Broadcasts signal through Antenna

Charged tag sends response

back to reader

Reader Sends Data to Host for processing

System sends back event based data

Readers Tag

Host System

Tags Receives signals and get energized

Baggage Scanning

If Baggage is not Suspected

If Baggage is Suspected

Attach a RFID Tag to Baggage

No need of Attaching a RFID Tag to Baggage

Tagged & Untagged Baggage's will be sent to

Conveyer belts

Passengers Collects their baggage's at their collecting points

Based on their convince of carrying baggage's, the passengers will move forward to the

Exit’s

Passengers will exits through RFID gates

If the Baggage have the suspected tag automatically passenger reaches the

RFID gates, Controller will give alarm sound along with red light

Customs person should stop the passenger and need to allow him

for checking baggage

Handheld ReadersMotorola's MC9090-G RFID handheld reader gives your workers the ability to capture a comprehensive range of data — from RFID tags and bar codes to images — with this flexible multi-function RFID handheld reader, which reads data in remote areas where fixed RFID readers can't reach.

At just half the weight of its industrial counterparts, the MC3190-Z is the lightest UHF RFID rugged handheld reader on the market

SBTSC on EAS Vs. SBTSC on RFIDEAS Based SBTS RFID Based SBTS EAS systems have no ID Audio/Video based Alarm Unobtrusive suspect

identification Tag may have to be removed

in some designs If the tag has to be removed,

then suspect may not be followed

False Alarm during the second visit if the tag is not removed

False Alarm if the EAS spec matches any Retail stores specification

No possibility of integration with BHS

RFID tag has billions of unique ID Audio/Video based Alarm Unobtrusive suspect identification Tag disposable Ability to follow the suspect without

his knowledge No Possibility of False Alarm during

the second visit, even if the tag is not removed

No mix-up with Retail stores EAS system

Integration with BHS Extendable to Passenger Profiling Can be Integrated with other

systems like CCTV systems more successfully

RFID Based system scalability

With same Solution Architecture, system can be expanded to transfer bags and outbound bags

The System can accommodate inbound bags with RFID tags

The same infrastructure can be used for trolley tracking, people tracking, asset tracking etc.
