AVOCA DAY THIS WEEKEND
Kick Off 3.10 pm
What a weekend is coming! Here is Central Coast
Rugby Union's Preview:
The Match of the Day sees the seaside derby
between Terrigal and Avoca Beach at The Haven
Oval. This is probably the biggest game of the season
on the Coast and whatever the form of the respective
teams as they enter this clash, this all becomes very
irrelevant. On paper Terrigal would be very firm
favourites to win this clash. They have won all their
matches this season, they are playing very good
rugby, they are the current Premiers, and they are at
home. However this all becomes quite meaningless

as these two teams are so desperate to defeat each
other. Avoca Beach love nothing better than to defeat
Terrigal at their home paddock. Both teams have
many local representative players and their
respective teams will rely heavily on these players.
For Terrigal, hooker Ethan McInnes, lock Joe Taylor,
and forward Dan Hilton are keys, but Terrigal have so
much depth and this does almost make them
impenetrable at home. Avoca Beach will rely heavily
on Matt Anderson in the backs, but also on Emile
Thomas and Brad Sheridan in the forwards but more
importantly they will need their younger players to rise
to the occasion and lead from the front. Avoca Beach
have only had the one win this year and will be most
keen to get that second one, especially this Saturday.
This will be a great game of rugby, and will attract a
massive crowd.
I've tried to be impartial by using Larry Thomson's
preview and, he is right, it is the case that crowds win
big matches and Avoca will come out in force and
play well above their weight.
Our Trojan supporters should all wear blue and
get there in numbers, then our Trojan Club will
cheer our teams home.
Please note the Second Grade fixture is also a top of
the ladder clash.
On the day, just before First Grade, the Terrigal U7s
will take on Avoca U7s for a 10 minute
exhibition match that is supported by both Clubs. The
main game will run on at 3.10 pm.
Then, afterwards there will be lots of celebrations in
the Clubhouse. We have entertainment and will be
supplying finger food for all those who attend Splash
along with cold beer.
You have no excuses. Get there early for a
park. Let's also get out and celebrate together as
a Club.
See you at the Rugby!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS
WEEKEND
Document1
With the large crowd we are expecting for the Avoca
Day this weekend, we need some extra volunteers to
help with the BBQ set up and clean up. If you're able
to donate an hour of your time, please call Carolyn on
0408 845 569.
FAVOURITE TROJANS
Paul Catanzariti was one
of the most durable half
backs for the Trojan Club,
the first player to play 200
First Grade games. He is
a true Trojan and is a
testament to the Trojan
spirit.
Last year, Paul had his
own challenges when he
noticed some changes
and his doctor sent him
straight for a
colonoscopy.
The operation which uncovered a 7.5 cm tumour in
Paul's bowel.
Paul’s weight dropped to 67 kilos within 8 days after
discovering the tumour and operations closely
followed.

Unfortunately, his doctors also found the possibility of
microcells may have escaped, so Paul was in for a
long bout of chemotherapy. After 12 full day
treatments occurring every second week and a stint
in hospital for four days due to dehydration, Paul’s
final treatment took place within the last fortnight.
Last Thursday, it was announced that Paul is clear of
any cancer. During the process Paul said he had
huge support from Tanya, his Mum, Dad and the kids.
One of the biggest savers was he stayed active
during the process.
Congratulations to Paul and the Catanzariti family on
winning this challenge, you’re great Trojans.
THIS WEEKEND - THE
CHALLENGE AND
KOKEGEI SHIELDS ARE
ON OFFER
The Challenge Shield, as at all
home games, will be up for grabs
this weekend at The Haven when
we play Avoca.
We also have the Kokegei Shield up for grabs which
is exclusive between Terrigal and Avoca and is
played under Bledisloe Cup rules. But Avoca must
win both home and away matches to wrestle it back!
Good luck Trojans. Let's retain both shields!
TROJAN VOLUNTEERS
Document1
We cannot provide our
Trojan Club
programmes without our
volunteers, parents and
players becoming an
active part of our
Volunteer Club. Last
weekend we found Nads,
former winning First
Grade Captain, out on the
BBQ.
In the engine room,
getting ready for Avoca,
our volunteers Bill and
Mitch are preparing our
banners ready for
display. A big thank you
for all our Trojan
volunteers who through
the years provide their
time to the Club.
UNDER 11s - TRUE TROJAN SPIRIT
Last weekend, our U11 Trojan Red and Blue teams
played at The Haven. The boys played their rugby in
great spirit and celebrated together with both sides
singing the victory song as one. The boys who are
coached by First Grade players, Ethan McInnes,
Frankie Webber and Trojan Champion, Ben Newport
train together regularly and even join in on a BBQ
after training on Thursdays at Terry Oval.
